Fantastic Rob. Smokin'. With all this Corona thing going off, like you I have been putting the practice. For the past 10 weeks I have been at home every day on my practice pad. Well last Monday evening I had the opportunity to get to my rehearsal room where my kit is set up. Spent a couple of hours. I was amazed at how much I have come on since the lock down. I really surprised myself. Well it is that old saying. You put the time in you will reap the rewards.

One of the best parts of Weckl’s playing for me is his ability to nail the hits and maintain that perfect pulse grove underneath. That’s the key to really being able to play this Latin big band style convincingly. Rob kills it.

Smokin rendition...ok , i have been waiting for you to use the knowledge you have stored in that brain of yours, to show whats possible when you practice and listen to different st 4th les and rhythms. Your hands are smooth and fluid. Your patterns where purfect, your kit always sounds great, and your snare sound is very pleasing to the ears. Nothing worse than listening to a great sounding kit with a snare thats tuned to tight or to loose, it ruins the whole sound.. Now how about a lesson on the Songo rythm in this song and a break down of the right hand pattern.i ask this because you are my go to everyday watch a video everyday!!! Thankyou Rob for taking your time to sh are your gift with all of us... We are the blessed ones...

I think if the instructor of the movie drum movieWhiplash saw Rob play, he would classify Rob as a dragger……where as Weckl plays on top or a fraction of milliseconds a head a the bass line. That is what makes Weckl intense and energetic sounding….not putting you down Rob, in fact this is and easy way for young drummers to learn a busy song like this because watching Rob play is easier to anticipate cymbal hits and changes in tempo and timing.
