I love Rob's lack of snobbery around the comedy he watched and loved. It's about time that those of us 'generalist comedy fans' were allowed to mention being amused by acts other that, for example, Lenny Bruce and the Pythons. I too found, and find, Cannon and Ball and Brucie in his prime, hilarious. How lovely that he shared that.

It's nothing to do with snobbery. I'm the same age as Brydon, and I never found stuff like Little & Large or Cannon & Ball remotely amusing. The idea that you have to have liked everything however banal and mainstream it is otherwise you're a snob, is frankly ludicrous. When Little & Large, Cannon & Ball, or the Two Ronnies for that matter, were on prime time TV I was anywhere between about 8 and 14. I was't trying to prove a point at that age, I just thought they were a pile of cack. And, in the immortal words of Supertramp, I was "bloody well right".

*And Ab Fab for God sakes, why the hell the greatest comedy in the '90s Ab Fab never gets mentionned anywhere by anybody these days ??... "Absolutely Fabulous" of course with Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, why doesn't it ever get mentionned ever anymore ???... Just make that experiment : just binge watch the 1st season of Ab Fab and see your average rate of laughs and then binge watch the 1st series of Monty Pythons and do the same : and then you'll see for yourself that there's nothing more misleading than a reputation.*
