People need to understand. That rob liefeld. Came out in a time when most comics all looked the same as far as art was concerned. So when liefeld. Lee. MCFARLANE and a slew of others came out. They were blowing people's minds. With all this new artwork. And liefelds artwork was very unique. Ans myself included thought his artwork was absolutely amazing. Still do and I try and buy as much as possible. And don't forget. He created deadpool

His art was very much a product of it's time. But he would have never been able to secure a job at Marvel or DC in the 1960s and 1970s. I would never fault the guy for his enthusiasm, nor his fans who support him. But for a guy like me who grew up on the beauty of the Buscemas, Windsor-Smiths, Ploog, Kirby and Steranko, Liefeld would never have made the cut.

He co-created Deadpool, and a lot of other characters. Different writers is what made Deadpool popular and unique. Without them, Deadpool is just another character out of a hundred that Liefeld “created” and didn’t make anything out of. He made the design, but he didn’t write any of the stories.

Lots of feet! Liefeld has a real style…I think , historically my real reason for complaining about him was all the artists imitating him in a kind of formulaic way.

Liefeld doesn’t get enough credit for creating strong female characters before it was trendy (Dawn Granger, Domino, Rikki Barnes, etc)

I love Liefeld's art too. Too many books today look like one another & doesn't have character. You could see the hand of all the artists in their work back in the day. These days, even the big guys at Marvel, are "safe".

Interesting how LIEfeld artwise never improved from from Marvel to his IMAGE stint & yet many of the artist he debuted on his books went on to definitely improve & escalate artwise...

The problems with Liefeld as an artist: he either doesn't understand or care to understand perspective, human anatomy, light and shadow; depth, historical accuracy; basic comic page layout; printing and coloring limitations. If you picked someone off the street who has never read a Captain America comic (or ANY) comic and paid them to pencil a comic story, this is the kind of work you could expect. I understand he is a friendly, open and decent guy. But as an artist, he never seems to improve over time. The mistakes and cheats are always the same. Too each his own.

Not commenting on Rob as a person but the only reason he ever got work was he broke in the 90's during the speculator boom when anyone who could strap a pencil to their feet could get work from Marvel because they were FLOODING the market in absolute garbage. There are people like Liefeld in every industry, they all have their fans, they are all considered hot garbage by anyone who knows better. Rob learned to draw by looking at comics yet not having a clue to the underlying design/art principles that created them that's why his fundamentals are such crap and he never gets better because he thinks he's already actualized. Success is no measure of worth, Liefeld's artwork is straight up garbage.

Jeez, I had forgotten how god awful Liefelds work is. It strikes me as being lazy and the fact that his work hasn't improved in all these years is mind blowing!
