Wow, you can really hear how young Rob picked up so much of his speech patterns and laughter from admiring his older brother. This felt like an old-school Happy Console Gamer episode, and I enjoyed the heck out of it.

I know this is an old episode now but I find myself frequently revisiting this. That story of the 4 guys going off across the border to the US to buy a game that wasn't available in Canada yet is absolutely fascinating! It's just wonderful. One of the best parts of this channel are the stories that you guys get together and share with us. As someone who isn't from the US or Canada (I'm in Ireland), hearing things like this is unbelievably great.

I've been watching the show since I was in middle school back in 2009; to finally see and hear from Gord Man is the coolest thing ever. At the end you mentioned how it was a long episode, I literally had now clue, time flew by so fast. Hearing memories of kids from an era where I wasn't even born is one of the coolest things and the main reason I watch this channel. Hope to see Gord Man in more video some day!

This is so good. You really catch the nostalgia of those days. The excitement we felt for new ideas and possibilities in gaming. The idea that there could be a game with a whole world to explore and lose yourself in. And the quest to get the game is a crazy adventure in itself! This was a great episode! I'm 30, also live in Vancouver, and the story where Gord-man and friends would take turns playing this single-player JRPG reminded me of when my friends and I were around that age. I would hang out with my friend who had 3 younger brothers close in age, and he had just got Disgaea for the PS2 around 2004/2005. We would do the same thing as Gord and each take turns, having our own save file making our own progress and making our own characters. We would change off when it was the other person's turn after a chapter was complete and we did that for maybe two days. Those were some fun times, and I enjoy these stories so keep them coming.

Hey Johnny, I have a suggestion for a video that I think would be really great: make an episode all about video game manuals. It's something that we don't have with modern gaming, but was such a big deal back then! Reading the manual was part of my own little "ritual" when getting a new game, and it was usually packed with so much beautiful artwork, sometimes even easter eggs, fun information, it was the best. Also, for sprite-based games (such as old school RPGs) the manuals were extremely important in my opinion, since they gave us art, a way to see the world and characters in detail instead of just pixel sprites. I think it'd be awesome to have you tell us about some of your memories with gaming manuals and even share some of your favorite manuals. Anyway, love your content; I've been watching your show since 2009 (I was 16 back then haha) and you're my favorite gaming channel.

I'm 32 years old and I am jealous how well connected you have been with friends from your childhood. I have many good memories with friends over the years but my father's job moved us around so much and later in life my own job has moved me across the country several times and it's a rare occasion I reconnect with friends. Having all those photos, stories, and memories is priceless. Having that original box stands for so much more than the game on it. I sometimes wish we could go back to those simpler days.
