Wow this is amazing. I like reading or watching film about the history of a certain place but I was amazed on how rich in culture, unique history and natural beauty the Old Sacramento has.I'm interested to live now in Sacramento.

Great episode! Use to live there and worked at Old Town. Super informative! If you head to Sacramento make sure to hit Midtown for dinner.

We used to take the train from Merced to Sacramento and walk over to Old Town for a day trip. Pioneer Days were the best! French onion soup at Fat City.

Wow, I learned a lot of neat little tidbits about Old Sac. I wasn't aware that there used to be a lot of flooding. Old Sacramento is the first town I've been to that has wooden streets, Can you imagine what an amazing feat that was to engineer and construct? The old trains are really neat to look at, but the rides are even better. If you've never been, you should go and pay a visit to Old Sacramento!

In 1968 we moved from the Bay Area to Sacto. My mom loved it because it was so underpopulated and had so little traffic that driving was easy; today it is huge and sprawling. It was weird to me that as recently as '68 the capital of California was underpopulated; this city has a reputation for being hot, ugly and scary.

Except Delta King is really cool to see and walk around on it is Soooo old! You feel the ghosts- really cool!...but the food is yucky. Try RIO on the waterfront, is really good food. The firehouse restaurant and in the alley are really good non touristy food..

I'm disappointed that you didn't mention the Sacramento Union, which was older than The Bee, and which published travel journals from Mark Twain. It's part of Sacramento history.

Levi Straus "mined the miners" :-) Instead of trying to get rich digging for gold, he had the idea to sell mining equipment and clothes to the miners. Levi jeans got started here. He made pants out of canvas to make them long-wearing for the miners.

California is much more conservative than you think. Only one side is given voice. Even the few democrats I know wanted Newsome gone. Yet they declared he won within an hour of start of voting? Even the slanted news covered people who were complaining that they came to vote and were told they already voted. This elderly republican lady comes to mind. There are a lot of people on both sides there but it’s not as slanted as people think.
