I very much appreciate these videos of Sacramento and Northern California. I’ve been watching all the videos on PBS, but sadly many are missing within each season. Hope one day all episodes will be available to watch.

Before I-80 was built, the bridge was US 40 which connected to San Francisco. There was also the Sacramento Northern railroad track down the center of the deck.

Before I-5 was built US 50 connected to US 99 and headed south to Stockton and Tracy. Then over Altamont Pass to Oakland. This was before the Carquinez bridge was built. Highway 50 here used to be the Lincoln Highway before 1926. Tracy and Livermore belong to the Historic Lincoln Highway Association.
