You're not wrong about technology. I work in IT and Poland definitely has become a tech hub. We are developing major projects off-shored by multinational companies - automotive, telecomunication, gaming, robotics. And companies are now moving production from China to central Europe, which means Poland especially. Also lots of start-ups recently. As for Polish legends - I've had a fabulous time watching your reaction :D Hope you will react to the rest of the series! :D

Yeah... Finally. Don't forget to keep the sequence of those films. Oh, and that Dragon guy. It's bodybuilder from Denmark, Kim Kold. You can see him also in "Fast and Furious 6". Some say that he is one of the nicest guys on Earth. Robot girl is Małogorzata Mikołajczak, also quite known Polish actress, who als plays in number of non-Polish produced films. And finally, the trumpeter firefighter: it's one of the best and well known Polish film and stage actors, Jerzy Stuhr.

Smok is actually the first film in the series, before Twardowski. In Twardowski 2.0 you can see that mention of Smok.

@@marekzoladkowski2482 Nevertheless it is a series of films. So things about previous are mentioned in later films, and watching them out of order make some of it weird. In Bazyliszek there is a mention of Twardowski on a radio, that by itself is made under Twardowski brand, and the things that happened wouldn't be possible before things in T 2.0. And in Jaga there is a mention about dealing with Bazyliszek. It is an integrated series of cause and effect. Unfortunately they didn't made a film about Perun, that was suggested from the scene after the credits in Jaga, should have been happening after Jaga. Also, I do not know if you are aware, there are side story about few characters in the film that are made into music videos with the cover songs that are in the movies.

"Legendy Polskie" is a series. "Dragon" is first part. Second is dual story "TWardowsky" and "Twardowski 2.0". After "Bazyliszek" and "Jaga". For this series is crossover few music video": "Legendy Polskie Aleja Gwiazd"; "Legendy Polskie Kocham Wolność"; "Legendy Polskie Jezu jak się cieszę" and "Legendy Polskie Jaskółka uwięziona". It's all is songs from "Legendy Polskie" movies.

There are many popular legends in Poland. Adults read them to children. Usually there's a dragon, a witch, a princess and... a hero. This time the legends were made in a new version in a humorous way.

In Polish legends there are also often stories about rival sisters, clever peasants who ultimately turn out to be better than knights, stories about enchanted treasures and pacts with the devil, and very often there are 3 devils in legends (good-natured - a kind of peasant devil - Rokita, haughty and brave - kind of devil - nobleman Boruat and dull and malicious - kind of German devil - Kusy).

In the original version of the Polish legend, the dragon flew over Krakow and kidnapped virgins. Sounds familiar? Shoemaker Dratewka cleverly planted a sheep stuffed with tar and sulfur for a dragon. Dragon's belly started to burn and he drank water from the Vistula until it burst. Allegro turns old Polish legends into modern versions of these stories.

The funny thing is this series (there is 3 more stories), was done by a Polish eCommerse company allegro. After watching these several years ago I started thinking what public Polish film indsutry is doing with money, as most of the industry is financed by the government.

Rob Smok, who kidnaps beautiful Polish girls, is Russian and speaks Polish with a Russian accent ;) Indeed, in robotics we are quite good. The first lunar rover was constructed by a Pole. The Martian rover also had equipment from a Polish company ;) there is always an extra in the legends after the end credits - watch it

Thanks for your reaction! I like your comments. I can see here some people underestimate the value of this episode. I like it a lot as well as the rest. I think that Janek (Johny) is young Twardowsky. In the following episode we'll hear that he had a very interesting life, fulfilled his dreams etc. and at the Bazyliszek we can see the Twardowsky brand radio :-) Janek has made his brand in electronics. Then he dreamt about the space and made it to go there...

The orginal story, as most of medieval legends, has a second layer to it. Dragon was taking virgins and ate them - this is a word play. In modern versions written for children the dragon actually ate young girls. Original message was quite different (this version from "legendy polskie" is actually closer to the orginal in its message) ;)

There is this hipothesis that the dragon's cave was actually a brothel, where even the king went for... entertainment. So you can imagine the girls weren't eaten at all. The story about the dragon was made up to keep locals scared away from looking for their relatives.

This movie references it in a lot of ways: corrupt politicians, people wanting to join Smok's party. We say that "every story has a grain of truth in it" and that's a sad truth, but I suppose the middle ages were not sunshine and roses.

Oh wow. You can actually see how old this is. There is Skeleton of Cracow, an unfinished tall building that the helicarier was parked at with city panorama in the background. Dragons do drink water, it died because it has drinked so much that it busted.

What I always liked most about this film is that it has Skeleton in it as one of Krakow's landmarks. Skeleton was itself a kind of "legend" in Krakow for many years, as its construction started in 1975, stopped in 1979 and the building remained in unfinished state until 2016. In 2017 already deteriorated parts of the building were demolished and the new construction started, with the building finally being finished in 2020.

Funny trivia - Smok in Polish sounds very similar to smog (air pollution) The highest air pollution for years has been right around Krakow. Information on t.v. reads "Smok* took another girl in Krakow".

In the original legends Cracow's dragon eat young woman, so did the Bad Wolf and the owner of gingerbread hut with children. It's because those legends were children appropriate. Being eaten was enough of perceived danger to make children wary of strangers, without whole ordeal of explaining child molestation.

Rob, if you try to tell the legend first you have to know the legend. It wasn't the dragon on the hill, it was the dragon under the hill, next it wasn't eating any women, it was eating virgin women. There is no wawel river in Krakow, its wisla river, and finally it wasn't shoe maker, he was a leather sowing man. Now when we have facts put straight Rob we can talk about this film, the meaning behind it is the same but I personally prefer original version, even if they had the best actor from Krakow Jerzy Stuhr as the hejnal trumpeter. I did like your reactions and trying to understand what you were watching, good job on that. Not enough off you speaking polish, common Rob mate, you have to practice if you planning on learning it. Carry on with your reactions and practice the language 😉
