Several years ago, I worked in DC at the USPTO. The vast VAST majority of tech workers were INDIAN. While I am NOT opposed to working with H1B people, there is LITERALLY NO REASON to choose these people over those within our own country, unless the intent is to choose CHEAP LABOR. Especially now, when much of the TECH Industry is laying off, AMERICAN CITIZENS should be provided full employment BEFORE we issue H1B VISAs to those who would take AMERICAN jobs. And remember, as H1B people need to be FULLY VETTED and provided with varying levels of Security Clearances, you cannot easily vet foreigners. This creates another security hole, essentially enabling access to the US infrastructure for those who have NO real dog in the fight; so big BIG security threat.

I'm an American born citizen. What I see is that we DO have a culture of laziness problem in the United States in regards to Labor and Excellence. And we also have a culture of giving a lot of attention to symptoms rather than admitting and dealing with the true cause of an issue. I am ALL for AMERICA FIRST Policies, but you cannot skirt the TRUTH about any issue and win, you WILL LOSE every time. Vivek hit the nail on the head, and Iv'e been saying it for years: "Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long...... and it starts young.....". We pay athletes, movie stars and entertainers millions and pay teachers, child care and even many in the healthcare industry like nurses pennies. Many U. S. citizen employees are down right LAZY. They go to work with a You Owe Me attitude. I want more money for less work. Obviously this doesn't describe everyone, but there are TOO MANY that it does. And if an employer can get hard working, well educated foreign workers, AND for less wages, that is just an incentive to hard to pass up. Listen to the panelist. No one want to deal with the hard truth: LAZINESS! They never mentioned it. And yes it starts YOUNG!! And also Yes: AMERICA FIRST! But we must deal honestly with the truth about ourselves and change.

Many people assume that workers on H-1B visas, particularly those from India, are fluent in English. However, in my experience, that’s often not the case. Many speak a modified version of English that’s heavily influenced by their native linguistic practices, making communication difficult. When I first started as an engineer, my company’s workforce was much more diverse. Over time, however, the introduction of the H-1B visa program led to a significant influx of cheaper labor, particularly from India, which altered the workplace dynamic. Companies began prioritizing cost savings over hiring locally, resulting in a decline in salaries for American engineers. The starting salaries for engineering graduates have become so low that many students in college are switching to other career paths, believing that the hard work required for an engineering degree simply isn’t worth the financial return. This shift has undermined the engineering profession in America, discouraging new talent and eroding the ecosystem that once supported innovation and development. The H-1B visa program was meant to fill specialized roles with talent that couldn’t be sourced locally. However, in practice, it has been used to undercut wages and bring in a cheaper workforce, harming the long-term sustainability of engineering as a career in the United States.

Tha solution would be to have companies pay more to hire foreigners so that they would only hire them when it is really needed instead of being cheap

I think if we love this country then we would look at the black people who graduated top of class but are very often denied the opportunity because they don't want to pay money, not even for white people working, but just want to save money and make more money than ever before.this is the sickness we have elected Americans.😢😢😢❤❤❤
