The power and speed of the new V8 SAMCAR Modified Saloons were to be tested at the historic Grand Prix circuit near East London. Potters pass and Rifle bends are without question the scariest sections of race track in the country. Keeping the throttle flat out through these two bends, is what separates the men from the boys.

My brother Dillon Tesmer and I got front row seats for this race as we were the marshals standing on the embankment where the V8 Flipped over. There was a father and his two sons standing with us and the one son was caught and lightly crushed under the car and sustained a broken collarbone. Thankfully, the coarse officials remodeled the outside of the course to push the embankment further back for later races. Everything happened in slow motion and it was awesome to experience and to swap stories for months after the race. Marshals on the inside of the track had to duck and dive as well to avoid the cars as they came off in every direction for both race starts. Initially we thought oil was the cause of the mayhem but as you can hear from the video, the drivers were at fault.
