another thing i do with the leap trick, if you hold left click (basic attack) and right click with leap next to the boss, after doing this one, you can then spam right click while holding left, with my build i can get to about 21 earthquake stacks doing this with my duration tempers

On the console when you leap and press basic skill ( or shacking the move button quick ) after that it will be canceled the animation. Do it quick you can stack at least 15 if there is no lag. Good luck guys.

You won't get near the same results although you may get results you are comfortable with. I recommend using DoNotHitMe's Thorns Barb variant as it's a lot more optimized and proven to be more successful in the pits with no cheese

​@@Michael-gq9cd yes but the build is so f slow, i'm not sure if the build can do any speed content, the dmg relies from monster or boss attacking you, the problem is their ai is so stupid,sometimes they attacking you sometimes they do not and unlike in Diablo 3, currently there is no any skill or legendary item to force monster to attack you constantly. The build is for the very late endgame, don't build it for your first build or your're gonna suffer.

Casual PS4 player here. Torment Duriel is easier than I thought with Thorns. I got ~120k life before elixirs, highest pit clear so far is Tier 94. Pit boss takes me 3-5 minutes to kill. Duriel took maybe a minute tops on the first try. Several Max Life GA’s. 50% Masterworked with only some procs on the right affixes. I use undying instead of iron blood. Take a step when your leap hits to cancel the animation. I’ve gotten to 15/16 earthquake stacks tops

This happens on PC. Also, the trick that I found is to alternate between jump and frenzy. As long as you're getting that quick frenzy in in between each jump, the jump doesn't seem to get stuck

He explains that in his video. For this build to work you have to have a PC, and you have to enable "force move", and use that to move around as it cancels the animation on jump. If your on console this build won't work.

I did some searching. Some of the bosses are just really horrible for Thorns. There are problems for all builds, but thorns especially. Most of the abilities/mechanics thrown at the player do not enact direct damage so they don’t proc thorns. Blizzard needs to do a hard rework on the implementation of the end bosses. For example, I can run through the entirety of a 90 Pit in like 3 minutes but can’t get through the boss.

what works for me (controller) to override the leap landing animation is hold down ur frenzy button to immediately cast it upon landing to animation cancel the landing lag. I need to cast frenzy anyways to proc the DR from the skill and might aspect anyways since I don't have doombringer. not the most fun build but damn, the results don't lie, its the most comfy build. thorns win s4.

Do NOT try this build on bosses until you have STR and HP Greater rolls on most of your gear and you WILL need a Greater roll Cooldown on the amulet to hit the CD needed for leap. I can get to 14 Stacks on console with perfect timing on a boss like Tormented Varshan. It does not ever hit the numbers that this video shows. But maybe I just need to roll better masterwork. My Razorplate is 1 greater and 140%x. I have barely pulled off a 76 Pit after getting lucky with the right boss. To get to 14 Stacks, you need to hit your basic attack as you come down from leap to cancel leap animation, then hit leap again. If anything, this build requires full build to be perfected before it is useful. On console, you can not control the leap as well with a controller. The controller only allows for no movement, short or long, depending on how far you move the stick in the direction. This makes it a different play style depending more on 4 evades into a Chain pull and then leap straight up and down. I really wanted this to work but I am not seeing the big hits when fighting bosses with the same setup. But again, maybe the difference between fully optimized masterwork and more than only 1 Greater Aspect gear in every slot.

Weird, Im at 116k hp with doom and shako on this build to get cdr, 1.7k strength. I'm just pressing all buttons available and cleared 87 pit with 2 minutes to spare. 40k thorns from 0 GA razor as well. But I dont see any big crits or damage, just hundreds of 0 to 100ks.

I've seen a few things around that people think Thorns while fortified may be broken. The displayed stat in my character screen remains 55k whether I'm fortified or not, but I'm not sure if that change would be visibly reflected in that.

You have to either hold down force move and spam leap or hold down leap and spam force move. Since this is not really healthy for your hands/fingers, there are 2 options to make it more comfortable: 1. If you have mousewheel with free spin, you can bind your force move key on scrolling up and/or scrolling down and let freespin take care of it. 2. Make a keyboard or mouse macro that spams the key for you as long as you hold it down. This might technically be against ToS, so use at own risk, even though I doubt they will do anything against it or if they can even detect it.

For farming, Double Swing should be faster, but Thorns is able to push higher. Keep in mind though that Thorns won't be able to kill all bosses on higher levels, since not all of them autoattack often enough and/or don't spawn adds. At least it's much more relaxed, since you are basically invincible and don't need to dodge any boss mechanics once your gear is good enough.

I've been following this planner and I had one question, what's up with Leap having the "Power Leap" node in the skill tree? Giving 40 Fury if it hit's an enemy. I am gearing up for thorn build and curious how damage works. I got some nice GA gear with 'damage % increase' and 'overpower damage'. I know thorns scale with vulnerability and strength and not with critical damage. But does it scale with dmg% and overpower?

I tried this build (on console btw) and for whatever reason I’m not doing big damage to tormented duriel. I also can’t spam leap like you can, not because I can’t input the jump but it’s on a 4-5 second cooldown. I used everything in this build I just didn’t have grandfather and instead of the amulet I’m using melted heart of salig so I can survive because I don’t have my resistances all up yet. I have 50k health and roughly the same attack power, my glyphs are all level 15 and I have my gear all with the correct tempers and affixes (again except the necklace of the elements)- what am I doing wrong

Get rid of melted heart. Sort out resistances with gear. Find doombringer. This is more of an endgame thing you have to find all the right gear and masterwork it and hit the right point. Also get those glyphs up! Have fun!

Not an expert, but I think the reason thorns scales so well on Barb is because they can stack maximum HP extremely high and they can scale their thorns off of it. I don't think necro can get nearly this kind of scaling with thorns.

My Razorplate/Needleflare Necro is level 98 and I have worked my way up to Pit level 31 and have never used Holy Bolt. My Razorplate mastered to 8 and rest of gear at 4.

Hello Rob, thank you for all of your awesome barb content. I recently got a doombringer. I havent tested it out yet but for some reason, my earthquake rumble is capping at 5 stacks. I am currently a console player. What do I need to do to increase the stacks? Everytime I leap, it stays at 5 stacks.

Why does my barb fall down whenever he leaps? My leap cooldown is sub 9 seconds but I can't spam it on bosses like that. What gives?
