Ive always been upset. Id always only seen covers of Reconstructing More Science, Cara Mia Addio, Want You Gone and sometimes Turret Wife Serenade. As my favourite game and first hyperfixation, I was upset noone paid attention to the REST of the ost. Until I found both this and your arrangement of I Am Not A Moron. Finally, someone had done these songs justice. And I'm in love with how you've arranged them

@FiveNineSquared6 жыл бұрын
Portal 2 is one of those games I keep replaying annually. Sometimes I boot up some random workshop tests to try out. After recording this I also wanted to replay the entire game again haha Mike Morasky’s writing for the OST actually goes very deep. He uses leitmotifs very subtly sometimes and each one carries some sort of importance (take for instance the way he wrote “Music of the Spheres”-the music heard when entering 1950s Aperture, and contrasted it with “Music of the Spheres 2”-heard in 1980s Aperture. The former uses more organic instruments, while the latter uses synths heavily. This can show how Aperture had shifted from being a prestigious human-run company to a lower-budget robot operated company). I had to do some research to get some of the info I wrote in the description tbh

3:21 after arranging bots build bots, I feel like these notes patterns are very similar to ones found in that piece. Overall bombs for throwing and your precious moon seem to recall the most motifs

Hearing this on the piano really helps you define the different parts from each other, and hear how over time the two parts start fighting against each other to resemble Wheatley fighting back against the central mainframe.

Yo, 6:18 matches so well with the video! Honestly, I didn’t get the ragtime at first, but it adds so much to what can be considered Wheatley’s themes. This is so good and epic, expanding on melodies you can just barely hear in the original. Thank you so much for this masterpiece!

Bombs For Throwing At You on piano?! How and why does this sound good? :D I always thought was waaa-aaaa-aaay too chaotic to perform on anything like piano. Somehow, though, you managed to sacrifice a bit of the chaos in for absolute amazingness holy what Also, this sounds a lot like some Undertale song. Bonetrousle, with a hint of that ironically jazzy tone that I always associate with Undertale, maybe some Megalo Strike Back? perhaps some Pokémon R/G/B/Y Champion theme?
@FiveNineSquared4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Tbf most of this will probably involve a lot of chaos on the piano if you actually played it, so not much has been lost :P Considering most of my early arranging experience was literally only stuff from Undertale, I wouldn't doubt some of that sneaked into this.

@broccolipurseos49204 ай бұрын
thats actually an interesting interpretation, but I don't think that's what he meant. AFAIK, here was originally gonna be more focus on the other humans Wheatley tried to save. This line was a reference to that.

Are you going to make more Portal 2 arrangements? I used yours to make an orchestra with them. But Im also working on own arrangements like one of my personal favorites "don't do it" "I saw a deer today". But im curious if you are going to make new ones. I really like how you use different leitmotifs that are heard trough out the game and how you build different play styles and chords into it and not only try to get the notes right. You straight up turn into an arrangment.

@FiveNineSquared5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The OST version of the track is actually different from the one that plays in-game, because the music changes depending on what stage of the fight you're in. So for example the first part actually loops until Wheatley finishes his monologue. It wasn't possible to sync some parts nicely because the playthrough I recorded was either too short or too long for the specific part of the music.
@valoch31875 жыл бұрын
@@FiveNineSquared Yep, I do understand why it is out of sync, there's no your fault in this. Also, this sounds even better if you replace second (I think it was second one) piano with organ imo.
@FiveNineSquared5 жыл бұрын
True, it would make more of a distinction between the two players I guess. You can still try to play this with an organ and piano combo though!
