ROBBE CYCLONE XT, 6.20m, Hybrid, Maiden Flight

Mounted the 6.20m wingspan Cyclone XT wings to the Cyclone Standard fuselage which has 2x 4000mah 6S and Turnigy 5065 270KV motor with a 20x10 prop installed. Having an airspeed sensor installed I noticed that stall speed went up 3mph compared with the original Cyclone with 5.50m wingspan.
Stall behavior however is mild and prdictable. The two piece wing flaps noticeable in turbulence and is not as stiff as the 5.50m wing from the original Cyclone which I fly occasional basic aerobatics with.
Overall the XT performs very well in light thermals and at higher wind speeds. Takeoffs and landings using crow are no issue at all.

Bought five 110mm landing wheels years ago from Hobby King. Liked them as they are driven by an electric motor and not by a servo. None ever failed with gliders of up to 27lb. . Thanks for watching!

Ja, der Segler ist sehr gutmütig und reagiert problemlos im Strömungsabriss. Zum starten sollte man jedoch auf jedenfall einen Startwagen verwenden und dementsprechend einen geigneten Startplatz aussuchen. Der Segler wiegt um die 12Kg, je nach verwendeten Lipos.

are you using the retract as a fixed wheel? I noticed it seems down on take off?

I have my glider retracts always in auto mode when taking off. They retract at 10m altitude and come down aswell when I get lower than 10m over take off altitude. Never failed. Thanks for watching and happy Holidays!

Hi, have landing wheels on almost all of my gliders as we fly from a dried out salt pond which acts like sandpaper on the fuselage and wing tips. I can send you some pictures I took when I installed the wheel. In this case I used a 110mm retractable landing wheel I got from Hobbyking. Works flawless after many take-offs and landings on both, the Straton and Cyclone. Thanks for watching!
