The most virtuosic blues/jazz/rock guitarist (and composer/arranger/singer) to EVER play the instrument - bar none. Seen here at his best. Brilliant playing throughout by Brechtlein and Beck as well. Robben plays the blues as deep in the pocket as his tune "How Deep In The Blues Do You Want To Go" might imply !! Total mastery of dynamics, tonal qualities of the guitar, phrasing, polyrhythm, ellipsis- can play anything from the most complex post-bop changes to pure country with astonishing fluidity and fire. With Robben -every note counts. His rhythm guitar (and comping) alone is sine qua non (without even considering his soloing). Check out his vast discography !!
