BritFlicks talks with reformed robber Terry Ellis, about the heist that was described as London’s very own ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ robbery. Terry Ellis was hired to pull off a heist that others thought impossible, he had to penetrate a high security data centre in Kings Cross, London, that held highly classified data for some of the world’s biggest banking corporations. Once inside he had to remove motherboards valued in excess of £100 million and deliver them to his anonymous employer.
You can order Terry Ellis's book, VERIZON from Amazon►amz.run/5TVr

Yeah so true and would of been quicker just getting hdd but they just wanted it all to be sure, they also had another specialist downloading all the server data on his laptop 💻 he the one that got the most precious information, but I'm a technician 25 years and i thought the exact same like the motherboard is pointless but I think the wanted the pentium chips and copy the technology or something maybe, deffo to do with the cpu they clearly had no idea how computers work

Great story, thanks, but they must have been stealing hard drives. There's no data on motherboards other than BIOS. Not to mention it's virtually impossible for 5 guys to remove 120 in 30-40 minutes.

These were Sun servers not PCs. Probably motherboards including Sparc CPUs and RAM. Probably also a lot were in spares cupboards. Probably out of the country by teatime. The stuff right at the end about mortgage data was rubbish and strongly suggests his role was limited to getting the team in and out, and that he'd no real idea of what was stolen.

In the words of Jimmy ‘The Gent’ Burke, “You did the right thing, never tell them anything and always keep your mouth shut” pretty daring robbery! I bet a lot of important people were worried about what’s on those mother boards, let alone the money that got transferred Do all computer parts not go to a huge dump in Ghana or somewhere? I know the old Royal Mail sorting office really well from growing up around there. Access via the canal where Granary Street doglegs 'round was always a piece of piss. Up the whole of Granary street it's easy to get in there, the side entrance also being a massive weak spot, but via the canal is surefire, you don't even have to get your feet wet, and that's from either side you can access the canal and bunk in over that side where the security is a lot weaker. Shame it's all changed and will never be the same, even in 2007 it was all over, really, compared the the '90s. 02:43 Come on mate, Holmes Road don't count, that nick is safe as houses from our pov and especially back then. Albany Street can't find their arse from their elbows and was about to be shut down, I guess you mean Holborn, but it's hard time in there, they're worse than Tottenham Court road used to be. They also have piss-poor response times, because they always get confused around Lamb's Conduit street. Too narrow for them. There's no Kings Cross nick apart from that "office" and the one by the old courthouse that only does the Geegees, it's obviously Islington Nick to worry about response time-wise there for that, even though it was under E division back then. It's easy to get out of there in vehicles, but again, over the canal and up into islington via barnsbury would be the best out of it, the railways work really well too via Belle Isle on foot.

When you read reports of this robbery and trial, it wasn’t information/data that was being stolen, it was the value of the computer equipment. Thefts of equipment from data centres weren’t uncommon back then because the hardware was so valuable.

It's one of these: 1) Terry is calling Hard Drives "Motherboards" and it is fine to make that name mistake. All data is stored on the Hard Drive and as long as he has those, all is well. 2) The dude who hired him has asked for the wrong components and caused a very risky yet useless job. In this case, (if the hirer dude was also hired) that dude is probably not alive. I can't see him making that kind of mistake if it was for himself. 3) The Motherboards were the Rolls-Royce of motherboards and extremely expensive. However, this is highly unlikely and in this case still think the job probably wasn't worth £100 M. 😂

Motherboards do not store data, cpu's do not store data. Ram can store data, but it doesnt hold it. And certainly cant hold qauntities of data like the Gent alludes too. He may have confused the mobos with hdds, and if your not au fait with the insides of a PC then its entirley understandable.
