Holy late release-date Batman! John Wick is already available on Blu-ray in most countries.

Tomanista Thats one thing that i'm almost certain would halt some piracy going on. I heard about this film showing in the US and getting good reviews... My friend Randy Andy downloaded it and sent it to me. And i might watch this in cinema... But equally, i might not. If films were released in the US, Asia and Europe on the same day, or week. That would be great.

I saw it here in Sweden last year, It's mind boggling how the UK release could be 6 months later. It'll really hurt the UK box office when it's been available for over a month on Blu-ray and in as a result as a torrent.

its not just the dog, the dog is symbolic for the loss of his wife, i dont see that as absurb

John Wick really is so good I want to have a poster of Keanu Reeves next to Chow-Yun Fat reading "superstars of heroic bloodshed" in rememberance of a poster in my student times featuring the asian star alone. And thus I really wholeheartedly agree with this wonderful critique.

Can't wait for John Wick 2! One of the better action films released last year

Watched this film a while ago and it really is very good. It reminds me a bit of The Raid films in terms of fight choreography and actions sequences.

I don't like the ''he did this because they killed his dog''. There is way more behind what the dog actually symbolises.

Malcolm Alden No, but it wasn't. A 5 minute funeral and a letter from his dead wife? It didn't give us any connection or empathy towards him. The only connection to the dog, was that it was cute. It was killed after one day. There wasn't even an explanation of how they found his house to take his car and kill his dog. As an action film, it was excellent. His motivation was wafer thin. Zero exposition for his actions. I enjoyed it, but it never provided enough meat on the bones for such violence. That 2 minute section of him driving his car angry wasn't it either. Great film, but trying to read more into something that wasn't there, isn't right to me.
@malcolmalden9 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying there is more into it. His motivation was more than just "they killed his dog" because the dog was left to him by his wife and it is the last remaining thing that kept her alive for him. And they took that away. It was pretty clear to see.
@malcolmalden9 жыл бұрын
So you did not notice that the reason he went on a revenge spree was because they took away the only thing that connected him to his wife after she had passed away? Did it really need to be explained further? What she expected to happen and what happened are very different, however you (kind of) understand his actions. It is safe to assume that he was out of the game after marrying her, he snapped after they killed the dog (it was like adding salt to a very fresh wound) and he ended up having nothing to lose. The story was thin, and I'm not saying it had some deeper meaning. But it was pretty clear to see his motivation was not just 'they killed my dog'

Malcolm Alden There;s this film right, about a dog that dies right. Throughout the whole film, we learn how a man becomes the best friend of this dog right. That film is a comedy called "Turner and Hooch". You know why we felt his pain? Because the connection was established. Playing a few flash backs for 5 mins is no basis for a man turning his back on his retirement plan. Even they'd have killed his wife, it would have been something. All I'm saying is, you can't show this level of anger and hatred for these actions. She may as just as well have left him the dvd boxset of Bill and Ted. That's how little they cared about the connection. Okay, we know by his actions it must be something. But it felt like such an lazy aside, that they were more interested in "gun go bang bang". Just look what happened in Kill Bill or Oldboy. Jesus the revenge was like the last nail in a long made coffin.

John Wick isn't a movie, it's a video game. If you want to see an actual movie about a hitman seeking revenge, watch Ghost Dog.

Now that is an great film. Criminally under rated and one of THE best hit man movies ever. Thanks for reminding me, I'd actually forgotten all about it.

"Legitimately wonderful"!? Did we watch the same movie? It felt hollow, wooden and grim. I cant tell the difference between this and some other misshapen wannabe Le Samourai neo-noir whatsit (aside from the choreography and stunts which were great at times)

There is a huge difference between being a movie star, and an actor. To call Keanu Reeves a great 'actor' is way off the mark. In my opinion.

The villans aren't unlikebale enough, The guy who actually kills his dog is pathetic from the outset and he gets punched about by everyone so its not satisfying when john wick finally gets him.

Mark Young therein lies the problem! it was a soulless cartoon that didn't have the integrity to confess it's comic-book origin. Explains the thin hackneyed plot and tin-ear'd dialogue. Add the mediocrity of Reeves and voila - a straight-to-download (STD) lol!!!!
