Reminds me somehow of a Fellini's movie and Robert Palmer's music videos on this one. I have always remembered this song since it came out in 86. I even played it at a few eighties parties at my home and is usually the song that everybody forgets, but loves. So I always was asked who was singing? Love Dominos and Back on Holiday. I wish that he would ve have more sucess.

"An underrated gem"? The song hit number two! Radio and MTV played this freakin' song incessantly back in the day. If it weren't for this tune, no one would have ever even heard of Robbie Nevil. There's a reason the man dropped off the radar, by the way. Good song? Yes. Gem? Sure, why not. Underrated? Not in the least.

I was a senior in high school, and this was my favorite song for like a month! The house dress thing was a fad for a while for we bohemians back then! We put frumpy dresses on with army boots, lots of necklaces, etc! I ran into Neville on the A&M studios lot in L.A. exactly 10 years later doing some work, and I was absolutely star-struck. He was just in this normal car, but looking cute as ever!

Man this is an underrated gem for sure. Robbie has certainly proven himself as an industry veteran with the longevity he's established as a writer and producer. But damn he has a fantastic voice and he's a dope musician too. Not too mention he was really fine ;-) It's too bad his career didn't take off the way it should have....he had the chops for sure. I'm glad we get to enough the work he did release though. It's GREAT stuff...

Dropped off the radar? The man is one half of the songwriting team for Disney mega hits Hannah Montana, HSM, Raven, and the Cheetah Girls. He's worked with dozens of other artists such as Beyonce, Christina, Jordan sparks, Jesss McCarthy, etc. He hasn't gone anywhere. He's always been a songwriter and a musician. Even though it was a hit, this song doesn't nearly garner the kind of attention now that plenty of other dance songs of the 80s do. Besides it's just my opinion.

"C'est La Vie" is a popular song by American singer Robbie Nevil from his self-titled debut album in 1986. Written by Nevil with Duncan Pain and Mark Holding, it was first recorded by gospel singer Beau Williams for his 1984 album, Bodacious!. Nevil's version spent two weeks at #2 on the U.S. singles chart in January 1987 and remained in the top 40 for 16 weeks.

The drummer in the vid is Brie Howard. A great singer and drummer, however she didn't actually sing or drum on this recording :) The album was recorded on a different continent to where the vid was shot, one USA, one England. I also love the 'C'est La Vie' voice, but it's not Brie, and as for who it is, we can only hazard a guess at one of the credited female singers on the CD liner notes.
