Man, this show really had my interest. And then about halfway through season 1. Robert Sawyer and his team just dominated the whole show. And that is no easy feat considering the whole cast is on point! Hands down one of the best shows to come along in a good long while. This whole show goes balls deep. Much respect for the whole cast and crew!

1:44 my favorite scene of Robbie, he was just as emotionally invested in that raid and that meth lab explosion case as Kyle and the PO because he has a young kid of his own, and you can tell that the two of them arguing was about to make Robbie lose his shit. So he did the smart thing and booted them both off the raid which likely saved one of them in the process because one of their guys did end up getting killed.

I love the character and he's a really great character but rationally speaking you can't and shouldn't root for him. He's not right in the head and he's not a cop he's an executioner, at the same time it's always hard to judge him given where he lives, what he's seen and in part also just had to do. For every criminal he could have potentially arrested properly there were three others he had to put down. Like in the prison, yeah they were all criminals and convicted, most of them he could likely have managed to get to give up and be arrested but he chose to mow them down with his team, at least 80% of them would have given up I imagine if given the opportunity. But hey a good character is a good character.

I think this is debatable. At this point in the series (three or four episodes into S3), Robert has only one kill that wasn't justified. Everything he and his team did in the prison was above board, imho.

@@bonelesspancake3519 I will step back and conced that Robert definitely has some unjustified shootings to his name, but the prison takeover is such an extreme situation and would be unprecedented if it happened irl; it's hard to say how the SWAT response would be judged. It's entirely possible that given the circumstances - the large number of armed inmates simulating a light infantry threat and the presence of National Guardsmen who were authorized to engage inmates at will as soon as the first shots were fired - that KPD's use of force matrix would be relaxed. All of this is to say that Robert is definitely a renegade who plays by his own rules and decides on his own ROE, but he only acts as an "executioner" once, and the show/actor otherwise does not portray him as the bloodthirsty maniac certain other characters describe him as.

The use of force matrix doesn't just go out the window during a riot, in prison or not. Anyways, if you watched season 3 you'll have learned more so how unhinged Robert is. He shot and killed a man who was surrendering with his hands up. He started escalating another man who surrendered himself to police. And of course he got shot by his team member Kyle, when it appeared he might kill an innocent man in his car hiding from the violence with his son. Just because the man had a pistol in his hand which he's legally allowed to have!! Robert is chaos. But an amazing character so credit to the actor.
