I'm genuineld puzzled, how Robbie Williams can be an absolute superstar in Britain and many European countries, but utterly unknown in the US. How does that happen? 👀
@andrewwebb34312 жыл бұрын
At the beginning of his solo career I think it's because Take That never really took off in the US in the 90s, so when Robbie split they never really promoted him over there either. I think he did try to break America in the early 2000s but for whatever reason that never quite worked. But latterly I think I heard him say once that after that attempt failed he realised he quite likes being a relative unknown in the US as it gives him a place to escape the spotlight and be a "normal" person for a while. So it's a combination of disinterest from the record labels, then disinterest by the American public and/or radio stations, then finally disinterest from Robbie himself.
@tigertot49352 жыл бұрын
He told his management to stop did any promoting, coz he was so sick of popularity...so he decided, live ordinary life in US... He turned down the offer; that finaly taken by Adam Lambert, also a role from Stephen Spielberg while in his childhood he was a musical theatre player... it can be said, that he 'paused' his carrier in US...nowadays, seems he's just release the pause button...

He had success concert in Las Vegas...his v-klips and concerts video had reacted by many American KZbinrs...many commenters on his videos, claim that they're his American fans...duet with Taylor Swift singing Angel, in her concert at Wembley...though he hasn't put maximum effort, to develop his carrier at USA...why should he?while right now he seems so exhausted of rest-lack

I went from the US to work in the UK for about 4 months in 2012. I was up late and there was a show on top "girl bands" that I caught the end of. I think the Spice Girls were #2 and Destiny's Child maybe #3. I hadn't seen #4 on down so I was thinking Bananarama maybe was #1. They announced "Girls Aloud" and you've never seen a bigger question mark over someone's head than mine. Who? I'd never heard of them. It was similar with Robbie Williams. He was on a talkshow and they were talking about all of his hits over his long career and I had absolutely no clue who he was.

Because he 'paused' his career development in the US...when the promo started in the US, he was very fed up with his popularity...so he asked his management to stop it and choose the US, as an 'escape' place where he could live peacefully as an anonymous ...now he seems mentally fit 'release the pause button', slowly making his way in the US...I heard his show in Las Vegas (2019) was great...2 grammy nominations, for a singer who is not full of effort in the US not bad right?
