@@sam071691 I just got a FR-S and people kept scarring me about burning the clutch since it was my first manual car, and i was so confused because they would say riding the clutch burns it and then they would say u need to ride the clutch for first and second, The entire time i kept thinking man these clutches must be really sensitive if just trying to learn this can break it.

I think everyone in the USA should learn to drive on a manual. It will make people better drivers and hopefully instill in them that it’s not cool to honk your horn if you don’t take off fast at a stop light.

A car with not a lot of torque won’t take off as easily without using the gas pedal. You can do it with most cars. It’s really just finding the clutch’s sweet spot. But a car with sufficient torque will make takeoffs easy when giving it little to no gas at all. Great video man. Great explanations!

How do you make turns in a manual car? When should you switch gears? When should you down shift? Do you have to shift all the way back down to 1st gear before you stop at a stop sign? Is it possible to stall a moving car?

@plumbingstuffinoregon2471

If you can turn with one hand it should be no problem shifting as you turn, or if you want you can shift after you turn. Downshifting is just like upshifting, but in reverse. When I come to a stop I push in the clutch and hit the brakes, then put it into 1st or 2nd gear after I stop. I drive an old truck with a super low 1st gear, so I don't need it unless I'm hauling stuff. And it's extremely rare to stall once moving, but it can happen if you're not careful.
@abababa3542
@abababa3542 4 жыл бұрын
Probably shouldn’t downshift into 1st...

@midnight347
@midnight347 4 жыл бұрын
Its easy man dont overthink it. You downshift just like you upshift say you're moving along 45 mph in 4th gear...you have to slow down to 25-30...you move up to 3rd or down to 2nd depending on the speed you're going and how the car is geared every car is different it just takes a little seat time and eventually you will know exactly what gear you need to be in at what speed etc. If you're driving spirited in mountains or on track it's best to rev match down shift before you go into the curve it helps to slow you down making it easier on your brakes and makes sure you're in the correct gear coming out of the turn so you can have max acceleration if that makes any sense. Dont overthink driving a manual. Just learn how to get the car moving and practice moving up and down the gearbox even while stopped the rest will come to you with seat time. It's just like an auto but.you gotta shift the gears instead of them being shifted for you.

And if you're worried about burning out your clutch too much don't be because eventually your clutch will burn out and the only thing is going to happen you just going to have to change it and the pressure plate it might cost you but but if you really want to learn that's a small price and eventually you're going to have to change your clutch and your pressure plate at some point

It sucks because most people nowadays are impatient af, I was learning to get into first gear on the street at night on a weekend (bad idea) light turned green and some lil Honda SUV honked at my ass which my anxiety started to strike me HARD.
