Making Custom Hood Vents for the G35!

After all the heat soaking issues the Infiniti G35 Sedan was having last drift day we decided to do some Custom DIY Hood Vents, as well as some other cooling tricks to make sure the car stays cool on our next track day!!

Bonnet vents look brilliant, one thing to be sure on is the fan switch is rated for the amps the fan will draw unless you run the main current though a relay, I used a cheap switch and it got a bit hot under use! Skidpad.

Hey Robbie! I dont know if you will see this comment, but you possibly wouldnt have to use a manual harness at all for that transmission swap! I did a swap on my ford focus several months ago and in order to feed the information to the manual ecu, I just spliced my clutch switches directly to the harness for the ecu ( pcm in my case). If you look at the wiring diagram for the harness, there may be a common pinout that is used between the auto and manual ecu for clutch/brake depression for starting the vehicle.

Next time if you need to bend metal stainless or alu you can make a little line with the cutting disc(just true the paint is enough) and your bends will be so much easier to do

This is sick! I'd like to do this to my G35 as well, but I have some questions, as I don't have great experience in mechanics or thermodynamics. Is the carpet that was taken off important to the heat that radiates? And since part of the hood is hollow, will heat get trapped inside and warp it if it gets too hot? And if it does, is there some other way to prevent that? Because I don't do anything special with my car, it's just a daily driver.
