Hi Robbie, i would de-scale the redfin, remove the guts & head. Then sprinkle seasonal (steak) spice and plain flour in a bag with the reddie. On a frypan with melted butter cook the reddie 2 to 3 mins each side or until the tail curls up. Squeeze some lemon juice on it and enjoy the redfin, the fins & skin tastes great and crunchy. Please try this next time, and let me know, I enjoy your shows.Cheers Andy Kenins.

@robbiefishing Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much mate. If I could travel anywhere in the world and catch 1 fish species, I would choose crappie. Crappie fishing looks like so much fun.
@papeep2694 Жыл бұрын
@@robbiefishing you could build an entire tackle box around crappie fishing. They are built like a panfish but feed like apex predators. They suspend on sunken cover which makes for excellent jigging. But they will also make violent strikes at passing artificials. They make insane strikes at top water artificials. There isn't anything in live baits they won't take. They love hellgrammites and our crays. Crickets, grasshoppers, Japanese beetles or anything mass hatching like mayflies, etc. Minnows, both live and artificial, draw hard strikes. And they are strong fighters as comfortable running deep as they are dancing on top the water. They have a "distant cousin" we call red-eye. Another member of the bass family. Equally fun to fish for but not quite as aggressive. Yes Robbie. Not among the largest species but certainly world class fishing. If the opportunity ever presents you grab it. You won't regret it.

Robbie, whats the rule in VIC re releasing Redfin in VIC waters? We are in lake Purrumbette for a couple of days and don’t want to kill everything we catch!
@robbiefishing Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, you are 100% allowed to release them. A lot of people will tell you otherwise, but the law in Victoria clearly states that you are allowed to release them back into the water that you caught them. You are NOT allowed to be in possession of live redfin. I.e. a bucket of water. You are NOT allowed to relocate them to other waterways, but you most definitely are allowed to release them. The same goes for NSW.
