These big redfin, or big perch if you're from Europe were hard to find, but when I did find them I was rewarded with some very fat and healthy fish. Autumn is a great time to catch the really big redfin in my area.
I hope you are enjoying my regular fishing videos.

A lot of people here use corn and usually just hook carp. I use shrimp and hook Redfin and Golden Perch in the river. But with all these small carp around, I found it's better chucking the bait traps in just as it gets dark. The other night, I put 2 in. Checked them twice and caught 74 shrimp lol. I was only there for 1.5hrs. Best haul I've ever gotten lol. First fish = Redfin, Second and Third = Golden Perch, then I got 2 carp and then just little buggers haha

pity ya never kept them for a feed m8, blooming good size
@robbiefishing

Thanks Mark, they would have been magnificent. The reason they are so big is because there are very few in there so taking what small number of them that are there out probably isn't in the best interest of the stream.

Robbie I am fishing in my local lakes Berwick Springs south east of Melbourne. I have walked the whole lake using strike tiger grubs in copper and whitebait Pearl and tried different jig heads such as 1/16, 1/24, 3/32 and haven’t caught any Redfin. But I can catch Redfin in the lake with worms but I want to fish with soft plastics. I don’t know what to do

Not used to hearing drag on a Robbie video, anti reverse busted?
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing 2 жыл бұрын
Haha this reel doesn't have an anti reverse. Arghhhh They're releasing more and more reels without them. If it had one I would much prefer to use it. Comparing an anti reverse to a drag is a bit like comparing an automatic to a manual. LOL The anti reverse is the manual.

That is a huge myth mate. You absolutely can release them back onto the water that you catch them. You can NOT relocate them though.

Hi mate, I prefer to put my undersize redfin back in the hope that they grow bigger. I would rather have redfin in this creek than no fish at all.

Why do U put the redfin back for there an introduced species U should be taking them home for a feed or using them for fertalizer in the garden I think it's wrong throwing them back as it just hurts the eco system and natives that live there
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing 2 жыл бұрын
Why do I put them back? Because I am a fisherman and not a greenie. Now..... because you know so much about native fish, can you please tell me what native fish would be here if there were no redfin?

I'm no expert mate and I'm a fisherman aswell but there could galaxia in there small minnows and what not else and nothing against you I just think it's wrong to put em back especially when fisheries have said and put in writing not to put em back into the water ways that's all mate just a bit surprised that's all

@@fromthesurftotheturf8147 Thanks mate. Sorry to go off like a bomb, I'm just very passionate about ensuring that we always have plenty of trout and redfin for generations to come. So that my kids, and there kids can experience what I love. This creek is above a waterfall. Historical data indicates that the only native fish to ever live there were blackfish that were most likely translocated by aboriginals. There's plenty of galaxias on many of the streams around here. I actually caught a few in a video recently. PS... I know the managers of fisheries very well and speak to them regularly. If you have a close look, there is no law against releasing redfin onto the water in which you caught it. It IS illegal to relocate them, and even to be in possession of love tedfon though, which is a good thing because where there are no redfin we DONT want them. 👍
