I found I started getting a little bored when doing the standard 5k,10k and HM road races, I found I didn't get any particular enjoyment from getting new pb's, so I joined a local running club and started doing xc racing in the winter, which I absolutely love, then that led to me doing a few seasons on the track as a veteran doing the 3k, but then as I started slowing down a little I fell in love with trail and fell running and that became my passion for a few years, I'm 54 now and started running at 40 after smoking for 22 yeas, but I've hardly ran since Covid and haven't ran a step now for about 18 months, I'm not sure why but I know I need to knuckle down and get back on it as I really miss running, I'm new to your channel and am enjoying your videos though!

Fantastic point Jack about how you get so much more out of running with a consistent weekly mileage. Its so true, often my friends have a run, get put off and don't continue. Consistency is key! and who cares about pace anyway? One foot in front of the other.

The positive effect running has mentally, at least for me makes all the hard sessions worth it, that finish line feeling can't be described, only experienced. Really happy to see it become more popular in recent years, videos like this definitely help people take that plunge and start too

Just did my 5th New Forest 10k on Sunday. I really like running but after a serious ACL injury 10 years ago I’ve had to spread it out. I’ve since done many others, including the Great South Run, but I’d like to do 12 next year - one a month for my 30th year. I wanted to do six this year but tendinitis has capped that back to two currently. Hoping for four maybe. I enjoyed your marathon vids earlier this year.

Thanks Robbie. I need to get back into it. During the lockdown relaxation hour outages I started running. My route was the same, constantly, and is exactly 5k along bexhill seafront. I got down to sub23 5k. I stopped when my second little one came along and life got in the way. But I tried to run recently (regrettably I’ve put on a fair bit of weight) and I got injured. I’ll push hard to get back into it. A content creator started a running group on Facebook and it really helped, worth you doing something similar as your reach is amazing and you could really help some people.

Myself and wanda are back running and on week 6 of Couch To 5K which I’ve loved after falling out of running after the Brighton marathon. In terms of trainers for running is it true to go a size above? Want to buy a good pair always feel like my feet swell too much for my natural size
@ManWalksDogs4 ай бұрын
i hadnt heard that and tbh it doesnt sound like great advice as surely your feet arent swelling to the point that theyve grown to the next size up and any swelling should be covered by the designed stretchiness in the fabric of the shoe. like the coach suggests, if its that much of an issue for you then go to a running/sports store where they can assess your gait and any other issues they spot, tailored specifically to you, rather any generic advice you can find online. maybe also consider what socks youre using as it sounds like your feet need to breath more. ankle socks with toughened pressure point patches on them would be my suggestion, as theyre what i use and they only just show above the trainer, so get as much air to your feet via your exposed ankles whilst running. oh and relace your trainers so that there's more slack in the middle to allow room to swell/breath, something i do with mine too. it should never get uncomfortable and obviously still be firmly tied at the top so that its not working loose due to the slack a few eyelets down.

start taking your kids to parkrun at the weekend (9am saturdays for 5k, theres also kids ones on sunday mornings which i think are 2k) - that way it becomes soething you do as a family and starts your weekend together well and has you all out of the house, up & moving in the fresh air & nice scenery.

Check out advice from any qualified nutritionist on the merits or otherwise of AG1 before shelling out.
@ManWalksDogs4 ай бұрын
and then once youve done that - or preferably before - do a little deep dive into the veracity of their qualifications as any Tom, Dick or Harry youtuber or insta influencer can claim professional status when it comes to diets & nutrition, thats why theres so much bunkum advice and counter arguments for & against this & that and often revolving around the latest trending superfood or supp. if you've checked all your confirmation biases and havent just stopped at the first blogger that agrees with your preconceptions, then you'll probably find youve got a bewildering array of opinions that leave you with more questions than answers. isnt the internet a wonderful place full of good faith advice without hidden agendas...
