Your the only person I have seen that actually trys to minimizes bee loss by being careful. I loved watching.

Thanks @justjessieka - we do whatever to minimise our bee losses. We’ve since worked out that spraying any bees gently with fine mist water if they are covered in honey helps them recover more swiftly.

IMHO, Aussie bush honey is the best in the World. It's flavour is quite different to European bee honey, but their ability to produce is proportional to their size, so not many people have the luck to try it. Their honey is gold. I'd really love the whack a couple of hives around home, but my missus is allergic to bees and hates the lot of them, our stingless as well. Talk about a pathological fear of them, but we've been married now for almost 40 years, so I ain't gunna upset the apple cart, lol. I'll just look jealously at people like yourselves collecting and eating the World's best honey, lmao. Congratulations, well done, enjoy :) Cheers from the Hunter Valley guys.

Thanks Pilot McBride! I'd have to agree with you, there's nothing quite like the taste of bush honey is there ;-)

I thought 1kg from a hive was a lot. That's really impressive. Do you know how much the hive itself weighed before the harvest?
@honeywoodhives8427 жыл бұрын
G'day Steve, we don't actually weigh our hives, however we did check this hive about a week before we robbed it and it was full. We were able to rob the honey then about two weeks later we split the hive. What is also very interesting and unusual, is that we have a number of hives (including this one) that we've been able to rob twice a year plus split once a year.

is it Queen cell is necessary for the division?
@jacquihoneywood54715 жыл бұрын
G’day Riyas, with stingless bee colonies, there are almost always virgin queens ready to step in if the Queen fails, dies or in this example- if ahive is duplicated. Also stingless hives create queen cells even whilst a Queen is still active. This means that if a hive is duplicated when it is strong, the Queen will stay with one half and the other half will either already have a virgin queen ready to be mated or will wait for one of the queen cells to hatch to create their new queen. Hope this information is useful to you. Jacqui

Hi there, thanks for your message. At this point in time, we don't sell our honey Bhakti. We sell hives locally (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia) so clients are able to produce their own honey. Warm wishes, The Honeywoods.
