Sam’s FTC performance was so fantastic in relation to where he was at the bottom during the whole post merge, I’d love to see Survivor Second Chances II and have him be there. Or give us a Second Chances: 2nd Place and have Sam and Charlie and the other iconic runner ups show up

Rachel honestly just got lucky. She survived the tuku vote via sols help and when kyle got voted off, theres no real players to contend with her. Sam is bad at puzzle. As for her idol, again its just pure luck that she got the clue. Its not like she actively searched for it. And by the time she used it, its no brainer that she had to even without eavesdropping on them since its obvious that they wanted her out. And she needed to play it on that time or the next which is the last day to play. But andy made a mistake too. They didnt split the vote. I think andy ruse on caroline vote kinda haunted him from doing it

While there’s not much more Sam could’ve done post-merge, I do think he screwed up his social game before that and set himself up poorly. He took his allies for granted and didn’t nurture those relationships as much as he needed to. He’s also being extremely arrogant by implying that Rachel won because she was lucky. Let’s not forget when she thought she might be going home and used her Shot In the Dark to evaluate people’s reactions. Sam didn’t even bother to learn how to make fire before final 4 🙄 She played a phenomenal strategic game and was an irrefutable beast at challenges! It’s gross to me that he’s so unwilling to admit it and keeps taking credit for Operation Italy

I mean Rachel did get lucky, to be honest. I think of her as a player who is very good, and I won't take away that she is very suited for the game Survivor. Her winning game, however, was not great at all, in my opinion, from what I saw at least. I actually agree with Sam. She did heavily rely on immunity and that idol at the end portion of the game which mind you challenges are heavily lucked based because you don't have any clue what challenge will come up. Same with idols you have to be lucky to at least find those things heck, she literally was going home at the merge had she not been saved by luck again from that safety without power, which, mind you, I don't knock as much because she unfortunately did get paired up into such a difficult situation. She was never really in a position of power aside from when she was immune, which, okay, credit to her for making those moves in the endgame. It is much easier to make moves when you're hiding behind the necklace where you can't get backlash than for someone who makes moves when they have no protection at all, and yeah, props to her for doing so. She absolutely got the majority of the votes to win. She did deserve to win. I really like Rachel as a person and was rooting for her really. But realistically her winning game is completely overblown.

Apparently, Andy was willing to work with him again, and Operation Italy helped him make it to the end. And it can be considered to be due to luck, when Rachel ended up being the only non Tuku member during the tribal council.

I do give Sam credit for pleading his case at final tribal, but Sam should thank Andy for making it to the finals. when Genevieve won immunity, Sam was gonna go home, but when Andy explained his game to Rachel, that convinced her that Andy was the bigger threat. he should also thank mother nature with the wind assist to allow his comeback at the fire making challenge. Had me worried for a while for Rachel when she gave her answer about her legacy. i get what she was trying to say, but i don't think she delivered her message well. For operation Italy, Andy came up with the plan, Sam was just part of it.

I'd love to see him again in another season. I think some people (and the jury) downplayed his game a bit. But his game was very good and it's a bit impressive to me that he reached the final as one of the biggest targets and without any advantage. Even though people spoke badly about what Kyle did, I was happy that he gave a vote to Sam and put him in second place. I even think he deserved a couple more votes.

Sam was important in that vote, but no more important than Genevieve and certainly not as crucial as Andy. I suspect the conversation about it was cut out of FTC possibly bc Sam claimed too much credit for it like he does here. The jury would hate that given that Andy and Genevieve knew exactly how the plan came about, so the rest of the jury would know too.

Really thought Sam was a mediocre player. He only made it to the end because no one saw him as a threat. He did have a good finale, but it was too little too late. Gabe, Andy, Genevieve or Kyle would all have beat him at the end. Operation Italy was Andy’s idea.

I think he was a big threat and a great player... He was supposed to go home when Sierra, Andy and Genevieve were voted out. His strong relationship with Genevieve saved him because she persuaded everyone to switch the votes towards Sierra. And in the end he was constantly targeted by Teeny and Rachel, but he still survived being just on his own + I think his premerge game at Gata was really impressive when he orchestrated the Jon and Anika blindside. I believe he deserved more votes. Just my opinion... :)

If Sam made too many mistakes then what does that say about Rachel? She made way more mistakes than him and had to be saved twice by the show. She misplayed her block a vote badly and got outsmarted by Sam. She didn't do anything to try and save Sol who was her closest ally, even though it was fully within her power to do so. She told Sue about her idol which if Sue was a decent player or we had KIP in play would have come back to bite Rachel. It's funny Teeny said Sam's handed everything in life but in reality that described Rachel's game and Sam's was the complete opposite.

Every Survivor winner has had some element of luck. If you want to talk about how lucky she was to receive Sol's advantage, then you HAVE to talk about how UNLUCKY she was to be in a group with 5 other people of the same tribe in the first place. If you want to talk about how lucky she was to get the clue at the auction, then you HAVE to talk about how stealthy she was to get the idol under time pressure, under the nose of everyone else. If you want to talk about Rachel's luck, then you HAVE to talk about Sam's luck when it came to the wind at fire making. Yes, she was lucky, but it's the way she made use of the advantages and idols that was masterful. If you can't see that, let me remind you: - Using the SITD to NOT waste her idol when she's clearly in a relatively precarious situation, if she had wasted her idol at that point, there's a high chance she doesn't make it to FTC (less protection, using your idol early just paints a bigger target on your back) - Allowing her opponents to make her case in front of the jury, before whipping out her idol at the timeliest moment, amplifying the effects of the idol multiple folds And this is ON TOP of her good game instincts, to know when she's in trouble or not, knowing when to put her name in the mix to get a shot at the block-a-vote advantage, to stealth around to gather information, being a challenge beast etc. I think FTC was edited in a way to make it seem closer than it was, and yes I have to give it to Sam for an absolutely riveting performance, but I think if Rachel was able to flesh out her answers (which we will never know without seeing the unedited FTC), it wouldn't have been close. All in all, Rachel WAS lucky, but she was way more than just that. She capitalised on her luck masterfully and that's essentially why she deserved the win. Sam had the better pitch at FTC (at least what was shown of it), but Rachel's game is definitely more well-rounded.

I'd be bitter too if lost a million dollars solely because I didn't buy the fries at the auction. It's the only reason Rachel won. She was saved twice by the show from going home, in situations where Sam would've been able to save himself without any help. She also wasted her block a vote and got outplayed badly to operation Italy. They were all making fun of Sam and how the reward was his last supper and he took the wrong people with him. This season was a referendum on new era survivor - what matters more your strategic gameplay or finding advantages in your fries. We got the answer. And for the record Sam doesn't seem bitter at all. I wouldn't be nearly as kind as him about the show and the outcome.
