When I use to go to church that hymn was play off and on. I love this song. I was humming as I listen to Rob Charles playing Standing on the Promises . I had tears come to my eyes. It is one of my favorites hymns .

Thank you. This is one of those hymns you just have to play "up," or with vivace, as they say. I love how you gave it a march feel. At times, the stanzas have a little similarity to The Battle Hymn of the Republic before the refrain. Every time I hear this hymn, it just makes me want to sing boldly, and I smile doing it. It has that effect.

R Kelso Carter (1849-1928) wrote both the words and tune.
