For people playing at home, a big part of what makes carbon driveshafts so great is the safety (on top of the obvious weight advantage). A normal metal driveshaft will bend, tear and keep spinning around causing chaos when it breaks. It'll punch through the floor, tear up the car and can even dig into the ground and flip you. A carbon shaft will basically rip itself apart and disintegrate. Still busted, still a bit messy but it doesn't turn you into a 200mph pole vaulter

@@helplmchoking funny thing is old Mercedes have driveshaft hoops for the same purpose. Nice to have an essential safety feature already there when building a car. I've actually had a driveshaft explode on an old W124 300D. 130hp maybe but we had put in a newer transmission w/ an aftermarket controller and the diff was worn out so after enough times of it slamming into gear, the flex disc exploded and the driveshaft bolts sheared off just pulling away from a stop light. Fun times.

I've always been impressed with how much research goes into creating these cars but the thing I've been even more impressed with lately is how you and your team understand that some knowledge is only attained by trial and error and you'll prepare days, weeks, or even months in advanced for things that you can't simply search up. The amount of times you've come across something that wasn't exactly an issue at the time, noted it down, made measurements, and even made marks for reference just to check them months down the line and making sure to tell us astounds me. It shows that this is nothing like a hobby or a passion, it's a whole different life at this point. You really do live and breathe this stuff and it's been most enjoyable to watch.

Hey rob, the reason the end plates on the wing are ‘upside down’ as you think, is because most of the downforce occurs under the wing, on the underside of it, not the top. Similar to an airplane wing. But opposite, downforce, not lift

@JD86Vintage

FYI, you were right, the end plates for the wing are for containing the airflow. They're to stop the air taking the path of least resistance which is not over the face of the wing but off the side. The reason they point down, not up, is it's actually the underside of the wing that generates the downforce. So it's more important to contain the air on the bottom than on the top face... The same principle is why swan neck wings are becoming so prevalent. If you mount the wing by the top, it leaves more area for smooth uninterrupted airflow on the underside of the wing.

Something about that spoiler looks seriously off, for some reason. Like it doesn't match the car, at all. I'm not quite sure as to why but perhaps it's too high up, too far back, or just too big. Or maybe it's the shape? Maybe all of those? Idk... It's size definitely looks a bit -diving board- overboard, and it's shape does not flow well with the rest of the car. I get that it's just a first spoiler, though, and things will most likely change in the future.

Without getting to deep on the aero rabbit hole, when mounting the endplates, they are used to speed up the air under the wing. Given the air pressure differential being the cause of the downforce, the bottom side of the wing is more important that the top, hence all of the gt cars have all switch to the top mount style wings. Short answer, hot Boi look is right

Rob, your team and yourself do amazing work. From welding, fabricating, testing and refinement. However there are tons of small things I've noticed that you could tweak and upgrades that aren't expensive that will make your work better and safer. A quick example is in this video, at 12:13 you are using what looks like a basic set of plyers to act as a spoon for filling grease into the axle joint/hub. For starters, a quick phone call/text/email to the company would get you exact info on the amount needed of grease to add, when it comes to your life and others don't gamble and wing it unless you have to. You just broke an expensive part and have a replacement one, find out how much to add, why it needs to be that amount and what happens when there's less or more then that amount... besides not being accurate, you're potentially risking scraping the metal inside by coming in contact with your plyers. Get yourself a caulking gun, and that grease should be available in a caulk form, or can buy empty ones and fill it yourself with the grease. Pump it into the area you want with precision and because the tip of the caulk is plastic/silicone it will never run the risk of damaging the metal unless you really ram your caulk. If you don't want to go that route then at the very least look at heavy duty silicone spoons, scrapers to make the job cleaner and easier.

Can’t wait to see this tv series. I’ve watched sone of the other KZbin competitors videos and it’s pretty stacked up with all the cars. Also I hope the hood is salvageable from the itty bitty clip I saw from the boosted boiz of you ripping down the drag strip. The 4rotor was one of the 2 biggest hits so far from what I’ve seen. There was another na 4rotor there. The sounds make everyone speechless.
