BTW. When taking the front cover off. Always have the engine vertical. So you don't move the end float spacer, front and rear needle bearings :) engine damage waiting to happen. Also fit a Solid oil pellet. Helps oil get to rotors when cold etc. Also recommend a racing beat increased oil pressure regulator. Whilst sump is off. If do. Need to shim front regulator too. Look forward to seeing it run and drive. I bought a snapon/bluepoint engine stand with rotating shaft. Best thing I've bought for rotary engines. Makes life easier.

Give you heads up if you want to increase your oil pressure what you should do since you're trying to push big Power that little pellet piece that you removed from the front cover you need to shim it as well as pressing the the point down on oil pressure regulator at the back of the iron to increase oil pressure you need 1/8 shim in the front underneath the spring
@patrickd.78805 жыл бұрын
Suprised no one else is thinking about increasing oil pressure on this engine . Hey rob here is some advice from the internet. U want to make 1000hp need more oil pressure. Adjustable oil pressure reg and some shims for your front "spring thingy" ,no wax pellet. Dont make us look bad at Ls fest. Pull up in the vette and blow up the engine. We'll never hear the end of it. "Typical rotary." Read the racing beat tech info section on oil pressure. Read the whole thing actually.
@pinslund5 жыл бұрын
Front balance weight chain sprocket have a small hole in it. If I'm correct, there's supposed to sit a grub screw in that hole or? Not sure if it's a major issue since the sprocket have a key but I would check it!! Also.... Lube the front cover seal before assembly!.. 😁 Really cool build man.. Good luck.
@nissanfang355 жыл бұрын
The wax pellet is the little piece that goes in the E-shaft before the main crank/E-shaft bolt. Some companies make solid aluminum ones to have full capable oil pressure, instead of having a drop in pressure after oil is at operating temp. Something along those lines. I forgot when i did it on my FD.

The pellet they were referring to is the "thermo bypass pellet". That's the springloaded pellet that is in the e-shaft. Most people just replace it with a solid pellet so the oil always flows to the rotors. It was put in for emission a to help warm up the rotors faster. In older rx7s those have the potential to fail and not deliver oil to the eshaft bearings.
@soraaoixxthebluesky5 жыл бұрын
The beauty of recording you build and post it on youtube. People can point out our mistake, yeah of course we are all human we do make mistake.
@stevewilson98835 жыл бұрын
Are you using the stock "thermal pellet" spring valve under the front nut on the eccentric shaft.. This is an emissions thing and old school builds replaced this with a solid plug so oil flow is not restricted when the motor is cold...

@ldadol5 жыл бұрын
The wax pellet is actually the gold piece inside the front of the e-shaft. It prevents oil flow during cold start which is very bad. I’d replace it with a solid pellet for like $11. The piece you replaced was the actually the front oil regulator.

Some of the guys with RX7's modify their factory AC and PS pump bracket to run the FFE wheel. They have a machinist remove the exact amount of material from the bracket at the two bolts that hold the FFE trigger so that when the bracket bolts are tightened, it clamps the FFE bracket. This might be an option on your new alternator bracket. Leaving the machined area as little as .001" less than the thickness of the bracket will ensure a good clamp.

put some liquid sealant on the seal-to-cover area so there is less of a chance of it popping out when you dont have a seal retaining ring and loctite retaining compound on critical components like your oil pump nut, use the removable one, not the one thats some kind of aviation structural glue thats impossible to remove EVER...yeah, I learnt the hard way, a drop will do, and makes the build a lot safer, wave washers are not 100% reliable, nordlocks are good though but not always capable of integrating into some areas. Super nice build

haha that shirt is awesome, looking forward to the day when we start seeing more rotary powered muscle cars, i'm sure after this build is finished there will be some guys looking at their 60's muscle cars thinking 'yeh lets throw some doritos in this thing' the 13b does seem a little small in a large car but they do punch above their weight, the rotary by design makes most of it's power higher in the rev range which is no big deal you just use a final drive ratio that suits the powerband, when we are talking about a street car who cares about what makes the most power/torque etc, the fun part is driving something that is unique & different from the rest, this thing will be shitloads of fun to drive on the street, hopefully this build will encourage others to build their own unique rotary powered street car, gotta say that a rotary swap on a corvette has been a long time coming, looking forward to the footage at LS fest, if he's able to finish it in time hey :)

You're probably not going to want to hear it but the only way of getting that counter Weight Balance to that engine is having to take the engine apart put the rotors and the e shaft on a balance machine with that Center weight to balance it the only other way is 2 find out what engine it is so you can figure out the code for the rotor weight and then you can kind of reference it off that long as that Center weight goes to an FD you should be good
