I know this is from the past, but to bleed the C8 cooling system, there are bleed ports by the headlights and that's where you also open up to let air get out. There have been engine failures by not bleeding from those. Hope this gets seen. It's a process to bleed those cooling systems and "bleeding the headlights" as we call it in the shop is part of it and highlighted in mega red in the gm documents.
@VampyrMygg2 жыл бұрын
Fixing it for now would be fun to see! and maybe once back at the garage with proper tools etc, it might be fun to see ya try modernizing the stock engine in it? fuel injection, individual coils, maybe newer heads, basically updating it and modernizing it as much ya can? I feel I always see folks swapping for a modern one, and.. it kinda does make sense as it's cheaper, less time consuming, and likely less work, but for learning what goes into it of work and such, it might be fun to see how the old engine could be modernized and such, maybe even see how modern it might be possible to make it? Be it more valves, valve control, a proper injection system rather than a mono injector that looks like a carb or something, maybe even with fuel rails etc? Better flowing tops in a more modern design, maybe in a lighter material? custom pistons? cams? an actual ECU and such of course, maybe there's things possible to do to the block? honing? increasing bore? smoothing things out? electric power steering instead of belt driven? a fly by wire throttle? If boosting it... I've been somewhat curious of the system the FD RX7 had, with their twin turbo, one smaller, and one larger that go in sequence? early boost with a smaller one, then the larger takes over at higher RPM, can a system like this maybe be copied/modified? if so... what if quad turbo? the sequential twin on each side of the engine? make a pure turbo version of the old Lancia Delta Integrale rally car trick, of Supercharger for low RPM, then turbo taking over at high RPM. (Though also seen in the old JDM Nissan March, and more recently in the VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI) And I've seen some folks using the BMW twin clutch gearboxes in builds more, could something like that work? get flappy pedal gearbox in an old barge? :P Obviously stuff like this would come with modernized suspension, then maybe weight saving by modernizing wiring, interior as well for more modern comforts etc, maybe using it to get into making fiberglass molds of fenders, hood, trunk, etc, and make your own carbon parts for lightness? And I'm suddenly realizing I'm rambling on, thanks to the weird bit of ADHD that is opposite of what ADHD is, hyper focus, sorry about that, I'll cut myself off here and just leave this weird rambling as I think parts of it still makes sense. :P Edit: Obviously I mean the old Lincoln, just felt I had to clarify it for some reason. Also I hope the rambling doesn't come off as demanding or anything, it started as a suggestion until the ADHD took control, and it is a silly amount of work so I know it's not exactly something that'll be done :P Think of it more like me just getting a weird idea out of my head, while I would love any of that obviously, I am able to be realistic as well, and know it's insane amounts of work and not gonna happen, and you do what you like to do of course, some rambling of some random idiot on the internet ain't gonna change that. :P Edit 2: Silly idea/question, while likely not exactly logical in this case, but as you sometimes have to move the RX7 in places where ya don't wanna make a lot of noise, could a "transport mode" be viable? of maybe a small electric motor just for moving it about a little? maybe something that can be bolted in when moving it, then unbolted when using it? like just some brackets for putting in a "transport mode" engine? Or is it something that doesn't happen often enough to really need it? Man... while even I'm noticing my own rambling, I don't remove it, so I'm sorry for the mess that is my brain, a mix of lack of impulse control, and social ineptitude. :P
