Assuming a standard cricket ball weighs around 156 grams, we can convert it to kilograms (0.156 kg) and calculate the kinetic energy of a ball traveling at 140 km/h (38.89 m/s): KE = (1/2) * 0.156 * 38.89^2 = 225.78 Joules Being hit by a cricket ball with this amount of energy can be very painful and can cause bruising, swelling, and even broken bones or internal injuries.

You guys are doing great. Keep it up. It is easy to see you are starting to understand why so many people are addicted to this game. There is so much to it. On the advice to bowl quick and adjust as compared to building pace as you go: There are some merits to both ideas. You have to get your action right and if all you are thinking about is pace then you may not be able to. However, if you aren't putting effort behind the ball you cannot know what you need to adjust. So it probably is a little bit of both.

I considered myself a half-decent club cricketer in my 20's. Then we got drawn against a premier league team in a cup. (we were division 3 at the time) .The first ball I faced from their professional, I didn't even see. He was basically too quick for my eyes and body to react to. A couple of balls later I managed to get a top edge to a short ball - 6 over third man. He bowled, probably, about 80 to 82 miles an hour. You have to be a very special person to face and score against people bowling at 90mph plus. And they say it isn't a tough sport.

My eyesight was good enough to track Lillee most of the time, but it was almost impossible to track the ball when Thommo was bowling with the Doctor at his back. He was extra scary because the batsman had no more idea where it was going than Thommo did, especially in his early days. Normal batting reflexes didn't seem to help at all.

8:00 i need to explain. The coach cannot make you ball fast. He or she cannot alter your strength and make you do comething that cannot be achieved by just going to the gym for example. Fast bowling is a passion. If you ball fast enought . The coach now just have to teach you where to pitch the ball. Speed is something you have to be passionate about . Rest the coach and team can improve you to international standards. 8:00

Height is one of the most important attributes to being an effective fast bowler. There are of course exceptions like Thomo, Malcolm Marshall and Mark Wood but bowlers like Ambrose, Walsh, Holding, Garner, Willis, Roberts, Bishop, Patterson, and Donald were able to obtain real bounce and generally would not be so injury prone as shorter quickies who have to put their bodies under more stress to obtain pace.
@Prsboy7813 күн бұрын
I would highly recommend purchasing a cricket ball to hold while watching these videos it will give you a better understanding of all aspects of the game. The ball is much harder, heavier and slightly smaller than a baseball. When bowling your arm must remain straight during the rolling of your arm (otherwise it is considered a throw). The ball has a small ridge (the seam) that can act like a rudder through the air and change how it bounces. Great reaction 👏 and I am looking forward to watching others from you.

He said he was alright in a tone I knew meant he didn’t like him. So who is your favourite I asked and he said with a great deal of enthusiasm - Wes Hall. I just imagined he was the great Aussie hero coz I was just about 6 years old and we’d only just got TV anyway. I don't know if you have gone further on cricket, but i think you should look at swing bowling. That is when a quick bowler moves the ball through the air, away ir towards the batsman in an attempt to make the batsmen edge the ball tonthe slip vatchers behind, or to catch the batsman off balance and make them play the wring line so that you can hit their stumps or catch them out for a Leg before wicket shout. Bowlers like Jimmy Anderson (Eng), Dale Styne (S Africa) and Zaheer Khan (Ind) wasim Akram and waqar younis (pak) were the best I've ever seen at doing this.

The control can be taught raw pace cant, you want to encourage people to bowl as fast as they can if they are capable of doing so.
@whattiler5102 Жыл бұрын
You have to be able to bowl fast to start with; you can improve control as you go along. You cannot turn a steady, controlled medium-pace bowler into someone who is going to put the fear of god into a batsman and will do his utmost to do it even when his body is aching with the effort. Run ups are important because they help to generate pace without putting even more strain on the body and the follow through allows them to slow down in a controlled fashion without overstraining joints. One of the bowlers mentioned, Mark Wood, had by quick bowlers' standard a short run up, but he also had a lot of injury problems. He was eventually persuaded to make his run up longer to reduce the explosive strain on his body and it has worked; he is hitting speeds consistently that he was breaking down under before and it looks like he is certainly extending his career; fast bowlers never know how long they will be able to keep going.
@Ingens_Scherz Жыл бұрын
As I'm sure you know, it was the great Michael Holding himself who fixed Mark Wood - and probably extended his career by a decade, as you point out. Now that is coaching!

Very Fast Bowlers are good to watch, but think about what it does to their body. They break down a lot and will suffer physically when they get older. Just all part of being a fast bowler. Just like wicket keepers will suffer a lot too. Especially in the needs and lower body. You can be a medium pace bowler. Easier than sper fast bowlers. Glen McGrath was the best technical bowler I ever saw. He was not super fast but he was super accurate.
@jvvoid2 ай бұрын
You need to allow a young fast bowler to run up and let the ball go as fast as they can and they want. Just let their natural rhythm and athleticism dictate their speed. Then you work on corrections (big or small) to their bowling action to improve their accuracy, instead of the other way round.
