Everyone is talking about Ten reacting to "Bad Wolf" and completely missed Eleven doing the same. He's more subtle and hides his emotions far better than Ten but at 1:12 you see him freeze and get kinda intense at the mention of her for a second and then at 1:19 you see him look up with a smirky smile and a sort of "Thanks, Rose, for saving me again" kinda look. That soft fondness on his face certainly wasn't for the Daleks. Eleven always tries to seem carefree and like his past doesn't affect him, always running from his own feelings, but he still feels just as deeply about it all as Ten. He's just had several centuries and River to turn that gut wrenching pain into bittersweet longing. He loves and misses both his girls. EDIT: I just re-watched the special. If there's any doubt those two still love her take a look at Ten's tie covered in blue roses and Eleven's Albert chain that has a little white rose. 💗

Y'know, Ten and Clara really work. All three of them are really excited to explain their idea, trading off in such a way that you can really see they're all the one man underneath enjoying Clara's companionship, but Tennant plays off of her exceptionally well, just as well as Matt does. You can tell Jenna still plays the character as being the most attached to Eleven by where she's looking most, but Ten and Clara are right in sync. And the way Tennant leaves at the end of the episode just reinforces that. So I think in another universe, they would theoretically get along swimmingly.

I absolutely love this scene. The sheer joy on the War Doctors face is so satisfying to see. Baring a few smiles the whole special he has been this surly, war weary soldier. No trace of The Doctor we all know and love. And when he realizes what 11 means, and begins to put it together, he just lights up. His energy comes back and that excitable, clever, quirky Time Lord we all know and love shines through. John Hurt, for only a little over 70 minutes, gives us one of the best Doctors in the shows whole run. Also gotta mention the small part of his regeneration we see and how important that one moment is as well. The very fact that he is smiling as he regenerates is VERY significant. No Doctor, in either the original run or the new run, has smiled as he regenerated. It feels like when the War Doctor regenerated he had finished everything he set out to do as the War Doctor. He regenerated from 8 to War with the purpose of defending all of Time and Space. The War Doctor did just that. 9's time was cut short at end of season 1. 10 mentioned how 'He could do so much more.' before he regenerated. And 11, while living to old age, still gave me this sense that he didn't do all he wanted to do as 11. The same with 12. The War Doctor however DID do what he set out to do when he regenerated from 8. All of that, to me at least, was conveyed in that smile.

Ten's hair at 0:50 - perfectly flat. Then, at 1:09 - hair boner. It's probably due to the fact he was fluffing it up/messing with it a couple of seconds earlier, but his reaction to War saying "Bad Wolf girl"... Well, you never know.

Everyone's talking about the Bad Wolf moment, but for me the best part of this scene is seeing just how much... lighter the War Doctor becomes when he realizes he doesn't have to destroy Gallifrey. After years and years of fighting, after so long shouldering that burden, he gets to let go, and it's like all those years just lift off his face, especially when he smiles. If only for a little while, he gets to be the Doctor again. John Hurt was phenomenal in the whole episode, but he really nailed this scene... I miss him still.

I just realized that The Moment *is* the Bad Wolf. The Moment is a weapon that can change time and space (the unfettered heart of a TARDIS) with a conscience (the essence of Rose Tyler imprinted on it when she became Bad Wolf). The Timelords harnessed the Moment of her transfiguration as a weapon, presumably not intending that the conscience of Rose Tyler would be part of the package. Realizing they had created a weapon that could pass judgement on the intentions of the people using it, they did what any sane person who would want a weapon of mass destruction, faced with one that could judge them, would do: they locked it away in as deep a hole as they could and swore never to activate it.

If I'm not mistaken, the background music for this is Breaking the Wall, which turns up in 12th doctor episodes. That's pretty fantastic.

I can't believe they did this amazing and epic thing to save Gallifrey. then before the Doctor even found Gallifrey --- It got nonchalantly destroyed 'off screen' by the Master, no explanation, he just found it and did it off camera =(

The theme tune used in this is actually from series 9 with Peter Capaldi - It's called "Breaking The Wall". Of course the version with Peter Capaldi is WAY WAY better than this one but if you listen closely at around 0:40 You Welcome!

Although it’s only a representation of Rose/Bad Wolf, I still love how two of my favorite companions are in this. Donna is a favorite too but sadly she can’t be. I like all the other companions too, but Rose, Donna and Clara are my favorites so far. I liked Amy, Rory Jack (being on and off) and Martha too, they’re not far behind.

(The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog) Tails: (Colleen O’Shaughnessey or Kate Higgins) So how we gonna stop this train? It’s still got the Conductor and it’s heading to Eggman’s base. Sonic: (Ryan Drummond) Yeah, Tails. I know It is. Barry: (David Tennant) But, there’s something that Eggman and the Mirage Express don’t know. Sonic: Because if they did, they’d probably send the Badniks to attack us. Amy: (Lisa Ortiz) What is it? What don’t they know? Sonic: This time, there’s 4 of us.

This is just solid writing. The story was so tight it perfectly weaved together the elements of the side plot and the larger one. I think Who writers often forget the basic elements of a good story.

One of the most heartwarming parts of this scene is to see the War Doctor become his eccentric self again, after renouncing the title.

The part of this I like the most is War's reaction to the idea 11 has. It's almost a sense of 'No. Is it that simple?' and then goes to 'Oh god it is!'

As much as I liked the concept of the war doctor. I think the story of the 8th doctor trying so hard to be a savior during the time war only to have that fail sooo many times until he just snaps and gives up and decides that the only way to save whats left of the universe is to fight and he painfully compromises his own morals in order to do so. That is much more tragic then regenerating to a warrior. A doctor who upheld the morals until he could no longer bear the pain and failure due to the war and have no choice to be a murderer. I honestly think that would have been more interesting rather then having him regenerate.

I hope Big Finish explore that in an audio series, the succession of failures, the Time Lords becoming seen as no better than the Daleks, etc. They have the Gallifrey series, maybe as a part of that, unless it already is.
@DavidbarZeus15 жыл бұрын
Well, it's kind of implied that that is what happens in Night of the Doctor. Eight did his best to avoid the Time War, only to fail so many people that Cass's death breaks him and that is what causes him to take the elixir. I believe he DID suffer what you wish for, and that is why he took the elixir: he couldn't bear the pain, suffering and loss. For once he regenerates due to a mental problem rather than a physical one.

Hang on hang on. So one of my favourite episodes is heavent sent and specifically the point where The Doctor starts reciting the Shepherd's boy story, an epic tune comes in (named aftet the story). I swear there's a few bars of it when the music kicks in here. At least 2 years before the heaven sent episode. Time travel!
