Even as a keyboard player I find Robert's videos really useful because they illustrate a meticulous and detailed approach. Just to add my two penny worth I see Robert uses a metronome and I guess he probably also does a lot of slow practice too to get the accuracy, control, phrasing and articulation - without a metronome you tend to speed up. Slow practice is musical magic.

To her defense, though it might have just been my ears, but Robert's guitar seemed slightly out of tune at first. There seemed to be a little more dissonance than there should have been. Nevertheless, Robert is a guitarist's guitarist. For those who think he's a bit too mathematical in his approach, listen to some of the solos he did recently in the standard E tuning. Brilliant!

@danopticon
@danopticon Жыл бұрын
@@CaliforniaGuitarTrioCGT - Hey Paul, sorry to trouble you: does Robert’s custom Beaudoux have a bowl-back? I can’t quite tell from this video’s angle, but I thought you might know. My Ovation 1867 is slowly driving me crazy, even after reintonation and a few further adjustments … and although I’ll always love it, in the past this level of frustration has signaled it was time to switch guitars. I’ve saved up a little dough over the years (basically I quit driving, which has reduced my expenses tremendously!) so I thought I might write to Beaudoux and say “Qué tal, me llamo Daniel, y yo quisiera una guitarra como la del estimado Sr. Fripp,” and at least get an estimate of what that might run me. I’m sure they’d remember what they’ve done for Robert, but just to be safe I thought I’d gather as many details about his Beaudoux as I could. I’m sure the Breedlove guitars are also awesome, and I’ll consider them as well. But I figured if I’m in for a bit, I may as well be in for a mile - plus, being from Venezuela, I feel an obligation to shop from my distant Argentinian cousins - so it can’t hurt to contact Beaudoux and at least make inquiries. Thanks for your help Paul! And if there’s anything further about Robert’s guitar which I ought to consider, please don’t hesitate to let me know! 😘

Long haired Asian guy was giving some Adrian Belew like energy to his playing. I's always wondered what Robert thinks about that? There's Robert who always plays while sitting comfortably, while Adrian launches himself onto the stage, and prances about playing a low slung guitar. It's not like Adrian's parts are in any way trivial.
