One of the few interviews in which De Niro likes to talk. Why? Because Wogan asks him serious questions about his movies, asks him about his profession. Other interviewers are like: "Oh my God look at your career: Godfather 2, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, you're great etc."

King of Comedy is indeed one of his greatest and most overlooked performances. Interesting that Robert DeNiro mentions it here. Martin Scorsese described it as DeNiro's greatest performance in a film directed by him (Scorsese). Great interview. Wogan was a class act.

Also in 1976 when he starred in Bertolucci's period piece '1900' - which he filmed more-or-less simultaneously with 'Taxi Driver'. More recently [1995] he appeared in the classic French comedy - 'One Hundred and One Nights', in French film - 'Arthur and the Invisibles' [2006] and in 2011 the Italian romantic comedy 'The Ages of Love'. He has also voiced over/narrated a number of European documentaries such as 'The Man Who Saved the World' in 2013. Clearly you know very little about De Niro or his body of work?

I just love Robert De Niro - he is truly one of the all time great actors, and does it with great ease. I also love the way he enjoys sending up the type of gangster characters he plays in a lot of his most classic movies, such as when he appeared in Meet the Parents - a movie he was great in, thus showing he does not seem to take himself too seriously. Love the guy.
