RDJ can be proud of himself. Or people who actually know him can be proud of him. You, a random person, don't have any leverage and legitimate ground to be proud of him. You can just root for him. But that's not the same.
@CristianaQuaranta4 ай бұрын
@@AndrejStanicyou, a random person, can't tell me who I can be proud of or not 🤷🏽♀️
@AndrejStanic4 ай бұрын
@@CristianaQuaranta I can actually, because I did ;-) But you can choose to ignore a friendly encouragement to be mindful of what you say (which, based on your reply, I presume is precisely what you will do) because saying you're proud of a person you've never met is somewhat ridiculous and plenty presumptuous. Also, if a random person were to say to me they were proud of me for something I did, I'd definitely find it super weird and upsetting, I'd kind of appreciate their well-intended gesture but I'd also be thinking to myself "who the F are you to be proud of ME?! I get to do that, not you. You can say that something I did is nice or that you like it but you can't say you're proud of me FFS, because you don't even know me, my past or my present so you can't possibly know if the thing you want to be proud of me for was actually a challenge for me or if it was just something random I did but you really liked it. Your opinion is irrelevant, I don't even know you and it's freaking me out that you presume I want to hear your opinion on me in regards to something you have ABSOLUTELY no right to judge me by any merit because it's not yours to judge, but mine. So buzz off and instead of me, be proud of yourself or whoever the F ever needs external validation of complete strangers.

Robert is so good at expressing the emotions and thoughts of his characters without dialogues. He can pull the audience in the movies. His acting was spectacular in this movie, as the antagonist. His performance was magical in this movie, it couldn't have been better and no actor could have played this role better than Robert. I've watched his movies ever since I was a child, he was my childhood. To see him improve and get a great, big role like this couldn't have been better. He is an amazing actor and an amazing man, he definitely deserves this nomination. Congrats on your nomination! Fingers crossed 🤞

Whoppi and Robert are some of the first actors I came across, love and never forget their performances. I was about 10 when we started to see more American movies, (early 90s after an isolating dictatorship), but yes it might be that Robert Downey's performance in Chaplin was my first "present day" star( not from classical movies.. ) the actor I would know the name, recognize the face and always keen to see him again. I haven't seen this one, not yet, as I was not keen of a movie that might portray Oppenheimer and the entire operation like an eroic fact. Not sure that I'd the case, but that was the impression as in the promotion of the movie it looked like an omagiation of his success Maybe one of this days, as a lover of good performances

I remembered Whoopie's first days on the comedy circuit. Hey, most revered and beloved Queen: remember the Other Cafe doin' nights with Robin Williams and Bobcat Goldthwaite!?...I was the guy that built the dressing rooms under that little balcony for Richard and Bob...ah, Cole valley...once waited for the N Judah with Danny Glover, who was aggressively reading the chronicle, like some pulpy talisman warding off an admirer. All he gave me was a grumpy side-eye. I prudently kept my mouth shut. Now look at you. Triple Bravo!

The 1993 Oscar race was competitive. Most believe that Pacino had 3 or more better performances than his work in Scent of a Woman but was given the award bc it was overdue and bc it was a makeup for his 70s losses. Even if Downey hadn't won, Denzel for his work in Malcolm X was equally deserving as well.
