What miracle has made Robert Goulet the way he is? Incredibly beautiful baritone voice, and a handsome stage presence unparalled in musical theater. R.I.P, Bob. Your voice has reserved a place in my heart.

It is a tragedy that voices such as this are so seldom heard or even appreciated today. I doubt that Mr Goulet was even appreciated by his own generation sufficiently. I'm 18 years his junior and recall how few of my peers valued truly great voices like his. He will ever remain one of my favorite baritones. Thank for posting...nice memories.

Ben Jonson That jaw of his is amazing, opening almost rectangular, as Joan Sutherland used to do!

He is perfection. The voice, his presence, and he is such a good actor. Thank you so much for posting. One of my all time favorites. I didn't know he had sung this. It's magical.

Robert gives the song a grandeur it deserves and no one else has. I am not a fan of operatic voices singing popular songs because they bellow without emotional nuance. Robert manages to achieve both so smoothly and makes it work superbly. This is a gem indeed I will enjoy for a long, long while. JASA

Fabulous Lerner & Loewe song - they just don't write them like this any more. Sung fabulously and masterfully by a youthful R.G.! I agree with Bill Brimmer's assessment below. :-)

I don't understand why RObt Goulet didn't get more movie roles. Especially the movie version of Camelot and also Gigi. The movie version of Camelot was not a success, which is such a missed opportunity. Robert Goulet had a magnetic presence on film. He was the quintessential leadind man. Films would have also preseved his work for later generations. Q: Did Jack Warner consider RG for the film version of Camelot?
@ROBERTGOULETTHEMANANDHISLEGACY9 жыл бұрын
+Seb Stephens They did consider him for the film version but Vanessa Redgrave insisted on Franco Nero with whom she was romantically involved. They made a big mistake. The movie should have been made with the original Broadway cast.

I agree the film should have been made with the Original Broadway cast Burton,Andrews and Goulet.They wanted to make the film with all of them and it would have been great.But Burton wanted to make it with Liz Taylor,Andrews didnt want to make it with Harris and asked for much money and Goulet didnt want to make it without Andrews. But they would have called him but Redgrave insisted on Nero, and the film was a flop and with the wrong cast

Too bad he didn't do the movie Gigi. A much better singer than Louis Jourdan! I saw him in on Broadway in La Cage Aux Folles, near the end of his career. I was glad to get to see Goulet on Broadway, since many of his most famous roles he performed before I was born.
