Probably the most important thing I learned from reading Mastery, was in reference to learning something new. When you learn something new you have to mentally in a sense, become like a child. A child is open, curious, dependent, and has no ego or pre notions. He/she just wants to understand.

I love this interviewer because he lets Robert “flow” into the interview, rather than doing a power play and using their ego to create a defense against Greene IMO. I’m noticed that others interviewers bombard him with questions and dance for the camera too much. This is lengthy but good!

Giving up too early happened many times to me. I remember having this friend, she was exactly the opposite and she ended up far more successful than me in school. Yeah overall I like Joe and value his contributions, but one thing that he is not is a smart, self-controlled man. He's curious, he's engaged, but man oh man he was never the type to go to college and really learn about first principles and self-control, he just launches into tangents like a madman. All those tattoos up and down his arms are the result of poor judgement and impulsive decision-making. They're frankly ugly as fuck and do not help his look.

I love Robert Greene's work. His books completed the clarification of my studies, and experiences of social dynamics to finally specify the interactions I have around me daily. I wasn't socialized correctly. My Ma and Step Father didn't socialize much cause they were considered the "help" where I grew up. I didn't get to visually observe a parent properly interact with others very often. Even though it was a small town in school I didn't understand social status. I didn't actually really understand it until I turned 30 Haha.

Watch Thomas Sowell... you'll hear something new and insightful every 2 minutes. This moron, Robert Greene, takes ordinary common sense and repackages it into stories which for some bizarre reason leaves people amazed. The only conclusion that makes any sense is that people who are impressed by this moron had REALLY lousy and worthless parents, and are themselves generally stupid.

Robert Greene you are amazingly, outstandingly honest and intelligent. 48. Laws of Power has helped me a great deal. I have not found a book as helpful as this. Thank you so much with sharing your knowledge. 48 Laws of Power has helped me deal with challenges in the working world. I have found that people at work are rarely honest and forth coming. I really like how in his books he tells historical stories that are interesting and you never know what the lesson is going to be. I'm always surprised by the takeaways or how things go in a completely different way to what you expect. Then i find myself researching these stories or people who I had no idea how insane or genius they were, eg Howard Hughes!

@@BradCarr_ The first General Manager in the first job I had at small company in the UK noticed I was speaking a lot. So, one day he asked me: "Do you know why people have two ears and one mouth?". I was sincerely PUZZLED because he 'suffered' the same very problem I had! However, when he said to me: "We should listen twice as much as we speak", that really stroke a cord. I learned how to play that cord more than 15 years after I heard those words. This is one of the reasons I like learning. Another is shown in my personal motto: "A VORACIOUS reader makes a PROLIFIC writer". This is actually what Robert have been doing too. His ability to connect seems to come from an IMMENSE amount of stuff he read/learned and probably also a lot of experience observing people more than dealing with them. After all this was Sun Tzu legacy: carefully observing the battles and be able to make an INCREDIBLE synthesis of all the cruelty he witnessed. THANK YOU for posting such motivating work and bringing it inside our homes and phones.
