/ hourofpower
This week, the Hour of Power honors our founder, Dr. Robert H. Schuller with a look back at some of the special guests, music and interview, that have been a part of the Hour of Power. Interview guests include Rev. Jesse Jackson, Mother Teresa, Billy Graham, Larry King, Naomi Judd, Dr. Phil McGraw and Coretta Scott King. Special clips include three of Dr. Schuller’s messages: “God Knows More About Our Tomorrow’s Than we Know About our Yesterday’s,” “Confident Living = Creative Living,” and “10 Commandments of a Positive Thinker.”
Videotaped in 1990, a young Bobby Schuller sings, “I Never Touched a Rainbow” (comp: Ruth Artman) from Hour of Power episode #1078.
Nita Whitaker & David Foster, along with the Hour of Power Orchestra from Hour of Power episode #2051 perform “Heaven Holds the Ones I Love” (comp: Linda Thompson; David Foster).
Soloist Wintley Phipps, along with the Hour of Power Orchestra from Hour of Power episode #2000 performs “How Great Thou Art” (comp: Stuart K. Hine).
From Hour of Power episode #2045, the Gatlin Brothers perform “Amazing Grace” (comp: John Newton).
Directed by Don Neuen, the Hour of Power Choir along with the Crystal Cathedral Children’s Chorus, directed by Carol Aspling, performs “Gloria” (comp: Mark McKenzie) from the 2,000th episode of the Hour of Power. The choirs are accompanied by Sean Groombridge on the organ, Tom Leonard on the piano, and Dr. Marc Riley and the Hour of Power Orchestra.

We never sat in your Church, but we were on the other side of the cameras, every Sunday. Mom, always had the Hour of Power on and your Father was a constant in our life. I miss those Sundays. Mom passed on in 2013. Mr. Schuller was a good Godly man and may he and Mrs. Schuller, forever, Rest in Peace.

I was so blessed to have lived less than 2 miles from this wonderful church growing up. I became a member on Easter Sunday 1976 at the age of 12 with Dr. Schuller over seeing my membership. I was very involved there for the next 12 years. Always a wonderful place in my heart! Dr. Schuller and his ministry was such a huge blessing to my family. Side note: I always loved the Good Shepherd solid bronze statue that stood out on the lawn near the Arboretum and just bought a small 6" replica of it and underneath it has the 23rd Psalm along with the words Crystal Cathedral Ministries at the bottom. It means the world to me!! I heard it was relocated to Pastor Bobby's church Shepherds Grove in Irvine. It's time to pay a visit.

My Twin Brother was an employee of The Crystal Cathedral and actually lived on the property! He said many times how surreal it was for him to see and chat with Dr. Schuller from time to time along with his wife Arvella and their children. I'm convinced this opportunity gave him much Peace in his Soul until he left to go to Heaven himself. God Bless Everyone

I watched The Hour of Power for many many years. His sermons help me through some tough times. I have a couple of his books and when i feel a little down, I read them. Mostly Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do. Thank you Dr Schuller so so much. Rest In Heavenly Peace.

Dr. Robert Schuller is a legend for hope with his messages. His sermon in 1982 that is true today as then. I miss his optimism and the words hard times do not last but tough people do. That how Korea was so broke and no trees for they cut them to stay warm or boil the bark to trees to drink but today they have super highways. Believe you can dream and you will see Gods handy work alive. Be a doer and make a difference as long as you can believe you can. With Jesus all things are possible. All who believe in the possible can mount up like eagles. I was in a Mental Hospital I recalled Dr. Schuller saying you have choices. To either look up and see the beauty of God's world or look down and see the mud and sadness of life. I sent his family a Christmas card and received one back while in the hospital wishing me a happy and merry Christmas. I did. That is the beginning of my positive thinking. I am seventy two today and could listen until I join my God one day. I am greatful for his possibility teaching is of Jesus and God.

I Love him. I grew up watching Robert H. Schuller in the 1970's, before going to Sunday School. Later there was a time change so I got to watch after Sunday School. He was instrumental along with my pastors and teachers in the importance of faith that would carry me through life and its many pitfalls of life. I would watch him until I could no longer find HOP on the TV. Seeing many of these guests brought me back to that time in my life. I have laughed. I have cried. I been in Awe. I had hoped to one day visit and attend a service. That wasn't to be. Maybe I can visit Grove church someday, God willing. Your granddad helped many including me. It may been a sermon, a song, or a story from a guest. Whatever it may have been it worked. My heart broke when I heard of his passing he's finally with Arvella and his Savior Jesus Christ. There is a reason why I came across this on Palm Sunday the beginning of Holy/Passion week. I think it's to let go of not living and begin to live again. A rebirth.

I believe I heard everyone of the Hour Of Power broadcasts from the early 60’s when I first found it on TV. Then I was able to go to the Women’s conferences a couple of times. I also took my Son one year when his band was marching in the Rose Parade. One year because I was an Eagle supporter I had lunch with Dr. Schuller in his office with a couple of other people. It was a very Personal encounter and beautiful experience. Thank you for keeping the message and the faith. Pray the tradition of good music can be restored and continued. May God continue to bless the Hour of Power to share God’s message with the world.

Dr. Schuller saved my life back in September 1979, when I heard him for the first time as he delivered his famous sermon ¨Turn your Scars into Stars¨, that helped me snap out of a great state of depression. He greatly influenced my life and I had the honor to know him and be part of his church for over 14 years, when I became part of the Hispanic Ministry led by the great man of God, Dr. Juan Carlos Ortiz. My children were raised in the environment of excellence and love of God that was so present at the Cathedral and turned out to be great kids. My life would not be the same if I had not met Dr. Schuller. May he rest in peace.

I attended his service on TV from 1975 until now. Dr. Schiller had a profound effect on my mind. As a woman or man thinks so is he or she. I miss him and seeing him on TV and when I was given tickets to go and see him in person. I went to California to see his service. He had a heart attack. None the less I heard Robert A. Schiller. I was ok with that so God will make a way where there seems to be on way. All these years I have loved being a Christian. In Jesus name. Amen.

I grew up watching Dr. Schuller from Washington state since 1976. I decided to look up some old sermons because we can't make it to town to go to church very often, and was disappointed to see the language was in German. I can't find any sermons in English. I was hoping to share these sermons with my husbands young children who have come to live with us.

The memories brings tears of joy for the years he preached the teachings of Jesus and the hurt knowing that Dr. Schuller won't be here in life but the joy is, he'll always be with us in spirit, for this I give praises to Jesus Christ our Lord! Thank you Pastor Robert V. Schuller (Bobby) for listening to God to carry on as Joshua did for Moses!

As a "cradle" Catholic I remember those early Hour of Power telecasts so well. I would rush home from Sunday Mass to be sure to not miss a second of the telecast. I felt somewhat guilty but now I feel it was validated after seeing the great Bishop Fulton J. Sheen appeared on Hour of Power as well as Cardinal Mahoney. And of course wonderful Mother Theresa. Rest in Peace Dr. Schuller.

It's hard to want to donate to the Schuller family when they've already demonstrated they SUCK at finances. This was a church for the superficial stars. All the money they overspent on extravagances is a sin in and of itself. Financial problems will always follow this church as long as a Schuller is at the helm. They didn't start at the bottom, they started at the top and kept going and then that bottom fell out. So where are all the famous people at at the new church?? You don't have to make EVERYTHING into a major production with hundreds of professional singers and musicians. I'm surprised they didn't go into bankruptcy sooner. The farm that leased their animals for the Crystals Christmas production were years behind getting paid!!! So sad. The more you make the more you want.
