Klein comes across as a well-grounded, reasonable man, as opposed to the stereotype of comedians as drug-addicted misfits. I was especially struck by Klein's humanity, his obvious caring for people and their well-being. His frank, honest portrayal of Rodney Dangerfield as a brilliant but flawed man is quite refreshing. He held nothing back, including his still-painful disappointment at Rodney's betrayal of his family and friends late in his life. All in all, this was a terrific interview, well worth the time spent listening to it.

In the 1980's I had a couple of Klein's comedy LP's. They were hilarious, I remember one off then he talked about being a substitute schoolteacher in NYC. I grew up in NYC so I could relate. One of the LP's had a picture of RK sitting on a dentist chair, hilarious. I always enjoyed seeing him on the Tonight Show and The Ed Sullivan Show. Thank you Mr Klein for making me laugh so hard.

Klein 's Dangerfield impression is about as good as impression as I've ever heard by anyone, of anyone. Listened three times to the bit about Rodney's brother the men's room attendant: not only does he nail the voice -- and in a subtle way, not at all exaggerated as many impersonators do -- but listen closely to the pace and the inflections. Rodney was one of a kind, and Klein was one of another kind: both of them towering figures on the history of stand up comedy. I feel lucky to have seen them both perform live.

Today's generation doesn't know Robert Klein. I know he's done some TV series more recently but he was a major monologist/comedian back in the day. He did comedy albums and was on the major variety shows. Very real and conversational.

My uncle, great guy, very intelligent in a low key way, loved Rodney. I didn't get his humor the same way as a kid, and when I asked him about it, my uncle said Rodney was a philosopher as much as he was a comedian, and his routines were an outlook on life.

I just ran into Robert Klein in a store in Ossining last week, got to talk to him for five minutes, big fan, we were talking acting, Yale, him turning down the role opposite Alan Alda in Mash. Very personable and funny.

I grew up to Klein's comedy. One of the greats. Its interesting that he and Rodney were close. Totally different style than Dangerfield, but each shared a brilliant ability to make people laugh by applying different forms of comedy.

Thank you for that great interview. I watch his videos once a week. I even show my grandkids the videos they laugh they’re 12 years old. It’s 2023 now. Not sure if this is true but I heard that prior to Rodney going into the hospital, he was asked by a friend how long do you think you’ll be in the hospital? Of course the answer was brilliant. Two weeks if all goes well. Couple of hours if it doesn’t.. it appears to me. He had the same stylus Henny Youngman. I love Henny Youngman one line. My wife wanted to go on a pleasure cruise, so I took her to the airport. I use that every once in a while for fun. Thank you.

That was a very excellent interview--very human, legit, real! Klein's stories about Rodney were extremely interesting and insightful. The interviewer did a truly great job here. I actually felt a bit privileged learning about Rodney's life and history through Klein's experiences. And I absolutely loved Klein back in the 70s and 80s! He is truly a comedy legend! This was wonderful for me to see. Thank you so much, from a lifelong fan of great comedy. Many years ago I got the insane idea that it would be nice to send Rodney a couple of jokes that I had the temerity to make up. I sent them to his club in NY. I thought at the time they were pretty good. One of them went like this: "I never get any respect.... the other day I bought some M&Ms. THEY MELTED IN MY HAND!! ". not surprisingly I never heard from him! PS. Sometime back in the late 60's I ran into Jerry Stiller in a restaurant in Brooklyn. Later on my dad told me that he was probably in the neighborhood to tape a TV show at a studio which was nearby. Further research told me that is was probably a Kraft Music Hall segment.

I was surprised the other night listening to a 1941 Jack Benny radio show in which Jack referred to a character in a sketch as "Rodney Dangerfield, the singing cowboy!" So the name goes back at least that far.

I like this and what fun we had listening to Robert Klein albums on the record player. I first heard Robert Klein on WHAM Rochester NY listening to this really cool program came on clear very late at night midnight to 5 am Harry Abraham and he played Robert Klein skit from a record Child of the Fifties I totally loved it !! Starting a car in cold weather! People of Rochester had to know about this first hand. Gotta buy this record

Robert Klein in the 80's was THE comic. Jerry Seinfeld should shovel about 20% of what he's earned in his career his way. Jerry et al, the 90's comics and beyond, were pale imitations of RK. He was the master. Go back and listen to his seminal work the Child Of The 50's album. I haven't listened to it in 25 years but know every line from every bit. I owned it and musta listened to it 50 times. The problem with RK as a comic was his all consuming desire to a be an actor. Comedy's loss was Broadway's gain. Live long and prosper Mr. K.

In the mid 1990s, I watched my somewhat excitable wife run across the length of the Stardust casino to catch up to Rodney after his show, as he walked alone towards the elevator. He was definitely showing his age and looked quite tired. When she caught up (by now I was in chase to try to head her off), she said, "Rodney! Rodney! I've lost all my money at the craps table, but I'll be happy if I can get a picture with you!" Rodney turned at the elevators, gazed at her as if appraising, and said, "Hey, honey, you can have me if you want." He even threw in a tie adjustment. Just a lovely, wonderfully talented and kind man.

That is the most honest interview I ever heard. It was obvious that Robert was incredibly angry at how Rodney treated his family. Usually, people keep this stuff quiet, especially at a funeral, but Robert couldn't get over it. Still, he paid Rodney the respect of coming to his funeral. Is Robert in good health? It looks like his shoulder bag might be a portable oxygen generator and he's sitting in a wheelchair. I hope i'm totally wrong.

My friend, Jay Leno loved Rodney and went to the hospital to see him near his end. Rodney seemed unconscious and Joan, Rodney's wife whispered to Rodney, Jay was there and squeeze Jay's finger, sort of to say hi, Rodney squeezed Jay's finger and Jay leaned over to Rodney and said "hey, that wasn't my finger", and Rodney laughed for the last time.

I admire Robert Klein for his talent and intelligence. The way he delivered made you feel he was appealing to your cerebral self. His pace and phrasing held me rapt, even as a young kid. He is a superb storyteller. In fact, Robert Klein just told a story that would normally have me annoyed and disappointed with Rodney Daingerfield for how he snubbed RK, a long-term, genuine friend.😮 Yet, somehow, with the genuine forgiveness and acceptance, and the manner that he told the story, RK slipped any righteous indignation or bitterness right past me and I'm glad I still have respect for Rodney Daingerfield.
