germans own 4 million solar power systems. We build solar power systems in 2023 which equal 14,1 Gigawatt or 10 nuclear power plants in 1 year and expect for 2024 even 20% more plus offshore windfarms. Solar power systems on the roof are replacing russian gas / american lng quite fast so we become independetn by using heatpumps for heating and AC heatings. The times are changing quite fast, also EV adaption with about 1,5 million right now. Russian invasion has pushed a lot to the whole developement unfortunatelly started at the outbreak of the invasion when the prices exploded over night, I mean 50% and even more per panel. We had paid for the first batch of 500 Wp panels 200€ each you can get now for 80€ but of cause now the 550 Wp which means 200€ compared to 72€. Same for battery LFP cells. But it is progressing steadily, even appartmens got the allowance to install 800 W inverters with up to 2000 Wp in total for peoplee renting an appartment which have become very popular to mount on the balcony railing facing south cause usually balconies are on the southern part of the house. And also people are starting to put solar panels onto the northern half of their roofs even though production is about 30% less. In 10 years most of our total energy will be renewables and those are capable to charge cars and power heatpumps during winter. Our current windmill production is 7 times bigger than what EV are needing. Biggest issue is at the end the grid to get the power from offshore to the more inland heavy industry regions while consumers start to become energy independent and zero emission like ours where we produce about 30 000 kWh a year with a 10.000 kWh consumption for a 200 qm house incl. central heating and also ev charging. But still the north roof is empty cause in case we go over 30 kWp installation we face more german bureaucracy and will have to pay income taxes not only for 1 kWp more if we would go for 31 kWp but for the whole production. Below 30 kWp it is free, above 30 kWp installation have to pay full income taxes which is a lot.
@Kangenpower79 ай бұрын
It is awesome to hear that Germany is working so quickly to install more solar power and wind power, and tell Russia to Kiss Off! I keep telling everyone that when Russia told Germany to kiss our ass or we will stop selling you natural gas, that the German's told Russia to Kiss Off! They can make the fertilizer anyplace there is cheap natural gas, so not in Germany right now, but maybe when Ukraine can sell Germany natural gas at a reasonable price, it can restart those fertilizer plants again.

There's a long way to go with electrification in the UK. I'll contradict Rob on what percentage of UK electricity is renewables. Last year it was 43% and that was all renewables. There is more wind farms in the pipeline (planned, being built etc) than built in the last 20 years. The issue though is the amount of generation capacity needed to replace fossil fuel transport use, heating, industry etc. It won't be a one for one replacement of MWh, it will be less, but it will be considerably more than the generation capacity we have today.

Robert Llewellyn, My Uncle, John Holmes was picked by Governor Brown in 1974 to head the Air Resources Board in California. The smog has been greatly reduced do to his efforts over 1968 to 1999 when he retired. Yes the smog was very bad in the 1960's and 70's, and by the 80's was improving. By 2000, it was much better, with no very unhealthful smog days, and less than 75 of the unhealthful days. In 2019, no unhealthful days for the entire year! The air is now clean enough that you can see Big Bear from Huntington Beach CA, some 90 miles away! Sandy, you will know what my uncle put on all cars in California, and then that spread all over America and the world. Smog devices! Yes the HP ratings went way down in the 80's, and by 1990, the auto companies finally decided to do something about it, I guess the stubborn "NO Guy" finally retired, and some educated engineers took over and started to make cars much cleaner, much more HP, and better mileage too. My 2007 Ford Edge had 265 HP with a 3.5L V6, something not possible with the 289 Mustang engine. 3.5L = 215 cubic inches. So more than 1 HP per cubic inch. 265 foot pounds of torque too, and it gets 19 MPG when you drive it conservatively. Yes the Catalytic converters in California where a direct result of my Uncle's efforts to reduce smog. In 1967, Mazda came over with it's rotary engine, and it was very high levels of smog out the tailpipe. He told them that they could not sell it in California, it made to much unburned hydrocarbons, to much smog, and the Mazda engineers said "So Sorry" and went back to Japan, returning in 1968 with one of the cleanest cars they had ever tested! Before 1976, they burned oil at the 800 MW power plant in Huntington Beach, CA, and by 1978, the SCAQMD made them burn only natural gas in the summer, and by 1980 only burn natural gas all year long. This reduced the visible smog coming out of the power plant! US steel stopped making steel in California by 1984, so much less smog there too! So Robert, you can now visit California without choking on the smog!

That 5,000 sq feet would produce a lot of juice, easily enough to run the business, charge the vehicles, fill battery storage, (and) earn income from grid support supply services. Purchase and installation costs should be a lot less for the company given available Federal & State incentives and the range of applicable experienced engineers employed should eliminate most of the installation costs since they should be perfectly capable of doing the work themselves - or what are they doing at Munro & Associates? Bit of a head scratcher. Just saying....

Tesla EVs are a fantastically engineered, and eventually, will be the right answer. But with the US power grid at 69% fossil fuel based, only 30% of the energy used in a Tesla is green. The toyota Camry hybrid gets 38% better milage than the non-hybrid version, (with only a 1.8 kwh battery vs +60kwh in a Tesla). So arguably the 😊Camry hybrid uses less fossil fuel. This will change as the grid moves to more and more fossil free. But for now - the right answer - if you care about lowering CO2, hybrids have big advantages. Less costly, tiny battery so less environmental impact , no worries about finding a charge station, easier to engineer. Over 25 years of design experience. So for now - I agree with Toyota.
