Question: What do you get when you go walking with the nature writer Robert Macfarlane and the actor and musician Johnny Flynn on a scorching hot summer's day in Wandlebury?
Answer: A Neolithic track, an Iron Age fort, a Roman road, a holm oak, cow pats, a mighty avenue of sun-dappled beech, a buzzard, a grasshopper orchestra, a dragonfly, the stories of a mysterious white horse and a dread augury and countless busy, buzzing bees. Oh, and no fewer than six extraordinary songs performed along the way.

Awesome, and I don't use that word lightly. This is the perfect podcast, combining nature, interesting and eloquent conversation, stunning musical performances and important messages from people who obviously have their hearts in the right place. Maybe, just maybe, this music will make people think that we could learn some lessons from our lockdown experiences after all, to take better care of nature and each other.

You guys just touch my soul with this deep and wide and funny talks. As another covid winter is upon us, it just warms my heart the travelling with you... Reading Underworld, listening Johnny's music stills my ever lasting Sehnsucht in gray stuffy switzerland ... great german word for longing and the addiction that can live inside desire for things that are not here in present ... LOVE

"Singing with a heart that grows!" Smiling through happy tears as I can hear Pete Seeger joining in with head flung back full throated harmony:))) Currently savouring Underland, whilst listening to Lost In the Cedar Wood. Such perfect companions; layer upon layer and so immersive. My brain, as a brain does, automatically seeking connections, and these thoughtful works bring to mind Loren Eiseley, Hugh Brody, and Robert Bringhurst. Thanks too, for your attention to Fairy Creek. If anyone reading wants to know more about it, The Tyee has ongoing coverage of it. So very grateful that such creative, curious, knowledgeable, but above all, thoughtful people choose to share their discoveries and insights and hearts with the rest of the world. So beautiful, and thank you, Folk on Foot, for presenting this. I'm off to listen to your walk with Cosmo Sheldrake now.

Surprised Rob Macfarlane doesn’t know of the story of O’Donaghue, I think it’s in Yeats’s collection of Irish folk and fairy stories
