@@truemanmontfort8031 Stop it! Plant doesn't owe Zeppelin fans a thing, he gave us a collection of great music to share & enjoy. Music's not always about the greed of money or to satisfy selfish fans wants & needs. Many artists would rather bow out with some integrity & protect their legacy of art in music with respect instead. We're not talking about some fly by night BS band here. It's f%$king "Led Zeppelin," 1 of the biggest most iconic bands ever in music. The chemistry between Page, Plant, Bonham, & Jones was something special, only few have achieved. Plus, why would you as a Zep fan want to jeopardize the legacy of "Led Zeppelin" for one night to see a band that in reality isn't the band you know & grew up with? When I think of LZ, I think of Jimmy, John, JP, & Robert, just like the Beatles, it's John, Paul, Ringo, & George, not Greg or Gary? Leave it alone, there's a time & place for everything! Plus, there were plenty of times you could have seen a LZ reunion concert if you really wanted to. Live Aid 85', 40th Anniversary of Atlantic Records 88', R&RHOF induction 95', Ahmet Ertegun Tribute 07', & 2 full Page & Plant World Tours. Ya dig? °Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul°

This is the best Robert Plant interview I've seen or listened to. Plant is a simple guy, while at the same being very complex and layered. He's like a fine Italian spaghetti sauce which has been simmering all day and made by an Italian grandma from the old country, mixed with the finest soul food loved, cooked and conjured up in a back street bar in New Orleans, sprinkled with an Opus from the 1700s and wrapped up in music from every corner of the planet. Robert loves cultures and respects cultures from all over the world - you can hear it. He is acutely intellectual yet self-effacing at the same time. He jokes around so much - one has to be on their toes -- and clarify if Robert is being serous or not. Rick Rubin is a huge Zeppelin fan and his quotes about tons of specific Led Zeppelin songs are all over the LZ wiki song pages. Robert's a musical treasure and Rick was the perfect person to draw all of this out of him. Rubin is a legend as well - from the Beastie Boys to Weezer. Two legends which we were able to enjoy - in one place. Loved this - two thumbs up !

Man, this one of the very best interviews with Plant I've heard! Rick always seems to bring his conversation partners into authentic dialogue and as a result they are themselves, freely at that. Plant is often so cagey as he anticipates the next bane question about mudsharks or somesuch played out topic. Hearing Plant at ease with a worthy partner really is a joy as his enthusiasm for music history in the past one to two hundred years shine through unfiltered. His laugh that you hear here and again is so real. Thank you Rick for these conversations, if there's anything redeeming in the culture in this century so far, it's the return of the long-form conversation, mostly using the podcast format. Also, Plant saying he is reading "Travels With Charlie" just lights me up. I relate to how reading Steinbeck's later work illuminates the various facets of America the weird, bringing the reader into the room (or pickup truck cap camper) to experience it at the authors side.

The humility of Robert Plant seems incredible just from his manner of speaking. It is truly verified when he mentions Monty Python and the Holy Grail but feels no need to tell everyone that Led Zeppelin paid for the production of the movie (along with Pink Floyd). The BBC wouldn't back a feature despite three years of absolutely pissed pants from Flying Circus at that point.

Listening to Robert Plant ... talk . I've heard Mr Rudin , in true Zen fashion, declare "We know nothing about anything. Or very very little." It's true. But I get a lot out of Roberts knowledge of nothing. And my music library is the better for it. Well done. Thank you.. 🙏

After reaching such heights there is something to be said about the lack of ego Robert had to exhibit , after such a wildly successful career to be open to a bold and delicate young ladies suggestion to alter his style that late In the game . As always a more than worthwhile podcast with Rick just on the fringe .❤

It was fantastic to listen to. Rick Rubin has given tons of quotes on individual Led Zeppelin songs over the years. Many of his quotes are used on the LZ song wiki pages. Rick is a huge Robert and LZ fan. Rubin is a legend as well - from the Beastie Boys to Weezer. :o)

Reading the comments, noticed a fair amount mentioned how nice it was that Rubin did not interrupt Plant during the interview- which shows how rare that is in the world.

Missed Zeppelin by one tour. Bonham died the day tickets went on sale in Chicago. I was devastated. I got to see Robert in 1988 and 2015. God is good and bless me with meeting Robert in a Blues Bar in 1988. Robert hating the band playing and ask me for another Blues Bar to go to!!! Love Robert!!

I went to the same school as Robert. He's nearly as erudite as what I was before I started the whole glue sniffing business in Stourbridge. Since those early days my career has skyrocketed whereas Bob's has plateaued. I'm quite happy about that. It's only fair. He was always taller than me and could sing.

After listening to this, I guess I fully appreciate how inspiring folk music was to the evolution of electric music. It seemed like all of them enjoyed those early rock and roll, r and b records, but then when they heard Dylan it was like a door opening. Of course, plant could be known as a folk singer in a proto metal band sometimes in the LZ days. He has an incredible voice for his current inspiration.

between the George Clinton interview and this one... I don't think there are 2 more eloquent knowledgable elder statesmans of music than these two. who are still relevant, still creating, zero ego and totally in love with music. thank you Robert. you are my favourite singer of all time. nobody can make me feel more inspired, more fired up and more sexually potent than you singing Black Dog, Since I've Been Loving You.... the soundtrack of my life.

Wow. I’ve heard ALLOT of interviews with Robert because I find his knowledge of music thrilling and his humor a kick. This interview is one of the very best I’ve heard. Even with Dan Rather in 2018 he wasn’t as open about his feelings surrounding the songs of his last two solo projects. I had an inkling that I knew what was being said in those songs, but this interview confirmed it. Thanks so much for an outstanding job
