@Robert Redford - Thank you for your comment, I;ve only just received this an hr ago. I made the comment 6 months ago, then forgot about it. It totally surprised/shocked me that you took the time to acknowledge it. May I ask a question? is this comment actually from you, or is it an automated thing? as it showed up in my email 'reply from Robert Redford' just curious. If it was from you in person, may I ask you what made you choose my comment to reply to? When I saw your comment, It lifted me and cheered me up big time! I am going through a very difficult time and am dealing with many problems - I long for things the way they used to be, before technology took over the world. I love people with passion for what they do, which is why I admire you so much, plus others, which is missing in today's world - it seems, everyone is out to make a quick buck. I am not into technology, the only good thing about it is youtube, where I'm able to listen to great music again, and finding wonderful interviews like yours, and enabled me to watch film 'All is Lost', which I found one of the greatest solo performances, and had me on edge of my seat thinking 'what else is going to happen to this guy'. However, the ending left me not knowing if you actually made it. It also enabled me to find No.1 spiritual teacher in world, Eckart Tolle, whom brings me calmness and solace, whom I also got a reply from a long time ago. You may or may not know him. You are one cool customer, and I was wondering - just wondering, if you can give me any tips on how to have a calm and cool presence as you have - I find it extremely hard to live in the present moment which Eckart teaches . Anyway - thanks again - hoping to get reply to this one - though I might have to wait another 6 mths! xx

Robert is the perfect example of why humans are created, he cares about the environment on earth and the beings who inhibit it, therefore he shares his knowledge and brings other professionals knowledge in to share theirs, which helps people find their purpose and provides a path to do so. This is an incredible human experience. Robert Redford's legacy is so diverse, and to think he is also an artist on canvass as well is mind bogling. He has so much heart, and has faced incredible heartbreak, it just makes one wonder how gifted this one soul is. He made his mark while helping others make their own.

He's a beautiful talker. Easy to listen to. Seems respectful as both a talker AND listener. He's done a lot of good work on the screen. My favorite of all his films is "Jeremiah Johnson, followed by "The Horse Whisperer." I hope the tail end of his life is good to him. Seems to me that he's earned the right to close out his life by following his own path right up to the very end.

He knew what was on the table, and he ends up being more open than in any interview I have ever seen. I fell in love with Robert Redford in the movie theater watching him in the 'Way We Were'. Another SUPERB Redford discussion. My three favorite Redford films are "All The President's Men," "Jeremiah Johnson," and "Three Days of the Condor," starring a superb Faye Dunaway, and the late Max Von Sydow. But my sentimental favorite remains his role as the wounded New York cop in Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone," nearly 60-years ago. Even then, you could see the deep emotion and humanism that would later become his trademark.

In spite of the mess what was around "Jeremiah Johnson" this was & still Is my favourite Redford film. It's about life. Not just at the American wildernes in the early 19th century.It has this special message for all of us: you need to learn how to cope with toughness of crual life, and how to make peace deep inside yourself. And meanwhile no emotional outbursting, no effort to create a "being touched" feeling.

I’ll add my “ bit “ too: What I really like about Redford in his movie characters, is simply his delivery of a line. Typically intelligent, his way of saying his lines, always makes me think, he has a wry sort of above it and outside of whatever is going on in the movie. His character Finchhatton in Out of Africa, after giving Karen Blixen his compass, so she doesnt get lost again: “ .... and don’t worry about me,.... I’ll be fine...”(!) A wry way of him telling her off, for being so female, and now he is without his compass .. No other actor has that effect on me. I guess it’s not necessary to analyse. Redford I think Uses pauses very effectively.
@Potaville
@Potaville 2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with ya there. Fun Trivia: When Robert filmed "Tell them Willie Boy is Here" at Morongo, Carlos Castaneda was said to be in the crowd watching. Later in private classes Carlos commented that if they ever made a movie from his books, Robert Redford would be an acceptable person to play his part, as long as they didn't assign Anthony Quinn to play his sorcery teacher "Don Juan". I"m making cartoons about how Carlos taught back in the 90s, and h ave cloned Robert Redford from his appearance as "death" in the early "Twilight Zone" episode. So Robert will play Carlos Castaneda in some cartoons. Already has a tiny bit. Morongo, interestingly, was where Carlos started his search for an "informant", eventually leading to him meeting don Juan.

I'm a big fan of Redford, and Newman , I particularly like Redford's " Downhill Racer ". The part in Butch Cassidy when Sundance responds to a noise behind them and shoots a snake dead is silly , in reality he would have been expecting to be firing at a man , not a small thing like a snake ,but of course he's a known sharpshooter and he put a bullet through something that's only one and a half inches thick , just like Hopalong Cassidy ,Tom Mix and Clint Eastwood woulda done.

Robert Redford is the perfect looking man. That’s about all. For a political activist he isn’t too exercised. In this interview we learn nothing about politics, environment or social justice. He truly is a pretty face, nothing more. This interview doesn’t challenge Redford in the slightest way and it seems like a total waste of time unless you enjoy worshipping him, for his looks. I suspect that he is an intellectual lightweight and that is why he avoids any explicitly political statements. He strikes me as cowardly and uninteresting from the point of view of merit. He is pretty though. He looks like a character out of a Rockwell painting.
