Late 80s. 😊 he wrote it as a wedding present for his wife. They've been married 36 years now.

An unexpected love song from Robert Smith, dedicated to his fiancee Mary who he started dating when they were 14. The lyrics are so beautiful, inspired by long tours to confirm his love for Mary. His voice is so passionate and perfectly matched to this love letter in a song. The instrumention is so catchy and soothing to listen to. It reached Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and was the start of filling stadiums in the America. Great reaction Harri. ❤ Great choice Neal, such a enjoyable song from The Cure. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada. ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦

It is actually a sweet love song, but it still has an ominous feel to it like most Cure.

@christianmarler2253 I totally agree, just feel Robert's voice has a tenderness to it, but easily recognizable as a Cure tune. ✌️✌️🇨🇦🇨🇦

@@marybaillie8907 It's definitely one of my favorites of theirs. I don't listen to them everyday, but sometimes their sound really hits the spot. I have Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and Disintegration.

Another wonderful selection from Neal! This is great. Nice insights from Harri. I’m not really a big fan of 80’s music in general but I liked this. Thanks Harri and Neal 🌸💐✌️

I love hearing about the elements of the current music being made. I know it can be very manipulated. Whether that's good or bad is up to whoever's listening...Would like to hear more and maybe some current music reactions.

The song was originally from their Disintegration album, released in '89, and I think the remix in '90. Hard for a remix to be a first listen, since in a way, it appeals heavily to those already so familiar with it, knowing how the layers fit together, and revel in hearing them split apart.
@NathanVeenstra19 күн бұрын
I get what you’re saying, but at least these remixes (mostly ‘extended mixes’) in the 1980s and partly in the 1990s were as you wrote extrapolations of layers in the songs to extend them. So they’re still quite close to the original, unlike remixes in later years where a pop or r&b song could become a house track with just the vocals being from the original.

Prefer the original version, admittedly. Always so gorgeous live.

Love the song, but prefer the original, tighter version. It had a bigger impact on me.
