Robert Taylor was a great actor, but he was also a great person, so he was much loved. He symbolized values and ideals that today seem lost, we will have to take him as an example, so I say: "Robert help us", in this sense. In the times we live, we need models like him. Thank you, Mr. Brugh, or rather, Robert Taylor.

I was so in love with him when I was a teenager. Theres really something to be said about a man who was a big star in the 30's through 60's and still to this day has girls young and old falling in love with him. I think its because he had class, style and integrity. He stood up for what he believed in and he made no compamises. Great video Perfect song choice for him. I love it, Thank you so much.

A much better actor than some critics say he was. A thorough pro and a good man (though as an animal lover I wish he hadn't hunted for "sport"). Died comparatively young at 57, which makes you wish he'd given up the smokes.

The old saying is that an actress is something more than a woman and an actor is something less than a man; Robert Taylor seemed to carry that inner tension into his performances, as if he didn't quite trust the idea of making a living off his looks. No matter what he thought of his acting, I think his no-frills style has actually aged more gracefully than some of the stagier actors like Spencer Tracy or Walter Huston. One of my absolute favorites.

@JuanMacready Well, what I meant was he was a big star to me and a lot of other people. After his contract was up they still wanted him for movies and he was in movies and television even in the 60"s till his death from lung cancer in 1969 at the age of 58; I don't think theres really anyone who loves these classic films who doesn't or hasn't at least heard of Robert Taylor! At the start of his career, he was thought to be the best looking man in movies. He despised critics calling him "pretty," a title which often superseded his underrated talent. He was twice married, to Barbara Stanwyck and later to German model and actress Ursula Thiess. Generally liked and lacking ego, he nevertheless became controversial following his testimony before the House on UnAmerican Activities Committee, which some thought contributed to the blacklisting of many in the film industry. A heavy smoker since his youth, Taylor died of lung cancer in the late 1960s.
