Yeah, that scene is played so perfectly by Denzel. Like the above commenter stated, chilling is the perfect word. That stare by Denzel like I really want to see this guy take his last breath is very unsettling. And the music just accentuates the feeling of terror and a kind of sick perverted like thrill of Robert/Denzel as just watches the life seep out of the man is, was very eery for the audience, too. No one really knew how to respond. Just a few, ‘Damns’ and a quiet hush. Denzel is one of the best actors of this generation.

My mans Robert had nothing to live for if there wasnt going to be peace in his life. "I know weakness, I know pain, I know suffering, and now because of these people, Im starting to understand peace and you cant take that away from me. God is my witness, you wont take it from them" dawg was 100% committed to creating peace if it isnt given, but not for himsef--for everyone else. That look he gave during this fight was "Ive had enough of yall" haha

The way he killed the young brother of the boss was absolutely incredible. He broke his arm at the elbow joint completely so he has no way to control it or bend it. Then Robert proceeds to use the guys own snapped off arm to stab him. He tries to use his other arm to stop it then Robert just breaks his wrist and knifed him in the throat while looking in his eyes as he dies. That has to be the most badass kill ive seen in a movie in a long time not to mention it was very unique. And that theme music right after it is chilling. This man, this assassin, Robert McCall as played by Denzel Washington, is one of the most terrifying, most frightening men I have ever seen on a movie screen. The terror and fear he evokes is so very compelling that you can't take your eyes off him. The emotions that you feel from McCall are much like those that I felt watching Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs. The terror is mesmerizing .

He silently witnessed the villains' cruelty to innocent well-meaning townsfolk. Once he saw them menace the local officer in front of his family, after they had beaten him before, McCall is done with. He gave the villain a chance to leave, an opportunity to step away and be spared. They refused. They reaped his wrath by their misdeeds.

My only complaint about the equalizer movies is he's kind of a Mary Sue. He wrecks everyone he goes up against, quite easily at that. I love Denzel and this character, but I'd love to see him get challenged, even lose sometime during the movie, and his arc is to pull himself together and go up against the guy in the end of the movie and emerge victorious after a hard fought fight. The problem with the equalizer movies is I always know that he just going to steamroll everyone who goes up against him. Even John Wick had fights where he got pushed to his limits and nearly died.

No I disagree. His long staring into his opponent's eyes while dying is pure savage after the brutality. His character is different than Jason Bourne or Ethan Hunt and also John Wick. JW kills because he has to to survive and he uses anything he grabs to survive again. Here our character is more like a sociopath. It is a kind of berserker rage but I don't like such type of characters. Rambo 4 was the same. I prefer Riddick for example. Not really good not really bad anti hero and cool

The music for this movie was perfect. It not only encompassed an Italian nature or style to it, but it somehow provides a sense of sadness and loss. When it pops up it's accompanying the protagonists darkest actions and to me is expressing him going back into his darker self. The first time it shows up I believe is when he is shot by the boy and tries to kill himself. Then again here and again when he kills everyone at the gangs house. Every time I hear it it brings forth a sadness in me, accompanied with happiness that evil is being eradicated. But to eradicate it a good man must become encompassed by that evil.

You’re Christian no? We don’t need Evil to eradicate it, we need righteous judgement, I like to picture the character Denzel is playing as judgement for the sins these criminals have afflicted but of course in reality the only true judge is Jesus. Good blessings!

The thing is, there are people like this in real life too. Not just movie villains but people who really don't know who they're playing games with. That's why it's a good idea for us to stay humble and not provoke situations we don't need. McCall may be a fictional character but people like him do exist. That's the funny thing, the scary ones with a 'particular set of skills' often don't look out of the ordinary.

True that. We had two ex-delta guys come train us in Iraq on how to find weapons cache and roadside bombs. One guy was short and slightly over weight like a truck driver. The other guy was very unnerving because he was tall, smiled and looked like a effing middle school principal with short curl white hair, like some sorta English gentlemen. They were also sporting top of the line hardware on loan from the pentagon, holographic sights before they were common and mk18 carbines.

There's certainly always someone who can destroy you in a fight. Even someone who under most circumstances would pose no threat to you could, in the right situation, the right timing etc, demolish you, no matter how big and bad you think you are. But make no mistake: *this* is fantasy. I have no reason to believe that people like Robert McCall actually exist. He's fearless, has virtually unlimited physical resources - or at least can always prevail in any circumstance. Such people don't exist.

I really enjoy the Equalizer movies. Denzel just owns that character and you sit back smiling when he sets his eyes on those that have incurred his wrath, calmly telling them that their death is already written in stone. He is the Angel of Death in these movies and he is UTTERLY convincing in being just that. By coincidence, I had watched this movie last night for the first time and LOVED it. Every bad guy like the ones in this movie should have a meeting with a real world "Robert McCall." The world would be a much better place if they did. Denzel is a National Treasure and certainly one of the best actors to have ever lived. He is memorizing in these movies and he just gobbles up the screen every time he's on it. Thanks again, Mr. Washington for another dazzling, brilliant performance.

Did they HAVE to use the same “brrrlldllr” 3 times?😂 Other than that, love this scene. I love the different tone set for this movie. It wasn’t Robert looking for revenge or tracking someone down, he was genuinely trying to protect where he felt his happy place was. I knew they were in for it after seeing Robert stare straight into his soul after stabbing him the same way he did in the first movie with that guy and the corkscrew. He seems to have that period of reasoning, not eliminating everyone from the start, but then once that’s it, he shows everyone watching that this is IT.
