Robert John Whittaker (born 20 December 1990) is a New Zealand-born Australian professional mixed martial artist. He is signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former UFC Middleweight Champion. A professional MMA competitor since 2009, Whittaker was a contestant on the first series of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes and won the welterweight tournament. Whittaker became interim middleweight champion after winning the title at UFC 213; he was promoted to undisputed champion after Georges St-Pierre vacated the UFC Middleweight Championship in 2017. As of 19 January 2021, he is #1 in the UFC middleweight rankings and, as of July 19, 2021, he is #12 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings.

Whittaker is my favourite fighter on the entire UFC roster and this documentary beautifully displays why. How he course-corrected after his rough patch at welterweight, his brutal 10-round war with Romero, and his resurgence post-Izzy all show how driven and dedicated he is as a fighter to be the best in the world. Not to mention his humble personality and sense of humor. I can't wait to see Izzy vs Bobby II.

Whittaker is one of those rare fighters that you just have to respect for constantly putting in the work, taking hard fights and risking losses to earn rematches and/or title shots. I don't think anyone is really saying he doesn't deserve a title shot after 3 dominant victories, in fact I think most were content with just the two. His middleweight run was one of the greatest, but I don't think he has done enough to achieve GOAT status, especially in a division that has housed Silva and now Adesanya. He is one of my favourites and has a great skill set, I do hope he can reclaim the title (perhaps inserting himself in the conversation that you prematurely entered him into).

He's very human actually, reason is he had spinal fusion surgery to repair his neck from damage he accumulated during his Olympic wrestling days. It means he has limited head movement and can get caught easier but when he does his entire body absorb the impact not just his head. A normal persons head would rotate with the impact of the kick and the resulting whiplash effect would have dropped them or even knocked them out, but Romero eats it like breakfast and keeps on going.

He's what I would describe as a fundamentals genius. Nothing fancy, just the basic kickboxing for MMA fucking nailed down to a T. Bobby knuckles is an absolute beast of a fighter. He's polite, classy, and he can damn near decapitate the entire UFC roster with that 1 2 high kick combo.

Watching the Izzy fight again and Rob was doing really well. The finishing hook by Izzy came off a 1-2 by Rob that was so vicious and really only missed because the 1 (jab) pushed Izzy's head back quite far. That right hand lands, and my overall experience in the front row in Melbourne that day might have been very different. Let's go Reaper - We believe brother! Can't wait for this rematch.

Rob is a good dude man, like genuinely a good guy. You can tell it’s not forced or the product of some type of PR machine it’s just who he is and it makes it easy to like him and see him prosper! Normally in terms of rematches I will almost always go with whoever won the first fight considering how that fight went but Bobby Knuckles is 1 of those rare cases where u it’s 50/50.
