Memories...one of my favorite songs ever. Junior in high school in 72. She has a beautiful voice. Speaks to us doesn't she? Such young emotions. Close my eyes and I am back in time.

Written by my fellow Scotsman Ewen McColl, fantastic cover from Roberta, also covered by Alison Moyet in the 80's.

This is a beautiful and appropriately spellbound reaction to a spellbinding performance of a spellbinding song.

The sound of Roberta Flack/s voice is something I will never forget. I have heard this song sung by a few others, but never with the passion and beauty of hers.

I love revisiting this song, both the video and reactions. I feel it strongly every single time. She's got the most amazing voice and ability to connect with me (similar to how you said she's singing to you directly). She's one of a kind

I must have missed this last March. Oh Chad, it is a beautiful song. It was an old folk song from the 1950's. A camp counselor taught it to us at Girl Scout Camp somewhere around 1970-71. I learned it on guitar that summer. Imagine a bunch of 8th and 9th graders singing our hearts out. Roberta Flack is so lovely and personal. She had some definite "husk" in her voice.

I believe there are lyricists, musicians, arrangement experts, and voices out there that there is NO reason hits like this aren't coming out all the time. But what we get now is a pale reflection of the music's from the early 70s.

You look like a guy I was in love with in High School and this song came out when we graduated in 1972 and he died young at the age 32 and was a world know Artist. When I watched this, it was like I was seeing him in you and this song was how I felt about him, and I do not even know if he ever heard it. He did not know that I was deeply in love with him.

Like you, I've heard this song, but not seen a performance of it. She has a great voice, I've heard a few of her songs actually. She is talented. They were on the radio when I was a kid. And my mom had them on compilation albums. She has more emotions than the other singer you reacted to, or rather she vocalize them better.

Of course, Roberta is great but we must give out a shout for the great British folksinger/playwright/songwriter Ewan MacColl who composed this masterpiece ( and many other great songs)
