So much fun to watch you paint. This reminds me of when I was at Art Center in Pasadena back in mid 80's, pre-computers and we learned to draw glass objects with all the highlights and shadows and always the star on one point of the edge, for the hot spot. We learned to illustrate products for our comps, including glass ware. They had to look as real as we could make them. This takes me back to those illustration and advertising classes. Thank you. Again, absolutely love to watch you teach. Wish I had the money to take your classes. Watching you makes me want to draw and paint again. Be safe and well.💖🙏💖

Bob, your joy is my motivation! Question: Is it ok to paint a canvas while it is lying flat or must it be on an easel? Someone said that a painting not done on an easel will never be painted at the correct angle. Is this true? Thank you!
@bobburridge4696 Жыл бұрын
hmmm... I paint my canvases flat. Interesting comment! I am sure they have a good reason!

When use gesso, depending on effect desired, do you ever add paint color to white gesso for pastel like ground?
@RobertBurridge Жыл бұрын
Thanks Judith - I get this question a lot during workshops. I have added acrylic paint to my white acrylic gesso and it seems that I am using A LOT of my paint to get the desired color. That is why I will either gesso THEN add a wiping of acrylic color OR use Holbein's Color Gesso. Appreciate your question!

I absolutely love your work and teaching. I am fairly new to acrylics and having so much fun. What I always wonder is how you can squeeze out your colors at the beginning and have them stay wet? Mine dry up so quickly and I pretty much have to put out each color as I use it. I do live in a dry climate so I know that can be an issue. What's your secret for keeping your paint piles moist? Thanks.
@RobertBurridge2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joan, Thanks for your question. What I do: I put out small dollops of paint, enough to last a short period of time (like 1/2 hour) before I refresh those piles again. I add no modifiers, slow drying or "open" acrylics. I paint fast, so that is also helpful.

I paint in watercolor, acrylic - basically anything that dissolves in water. I stopped painting in oils awhile ago.
