@RobertFeranec
@RobertFeranec 4 жыл бұрын
Try to zoom in to the pad and check where they are connected (check the net name). Many times problem is in symbol - you need to be sure, that pin is correctly rotated. Only one side of pin is electrical and when you are drawing schematic, wires has to be connected to that side of pin.
@abdulrahmanhaimour7312
@abdulrahmanhaimour7312 4 жыл бұрын
@@RobertFeranec Thanks for your reply. I found that the problem is actually all the nets were not able to be generated due to mistakes in the naming of the pins. I corrected it now, but still there are two nets unable to be generated. The message that appears is "unknown pin". I have no idea why.
@RobertFeranec
@RobertFeranec 4 жыл бұрын
@@abdulrahmanhaimour7312 unknow pin usually means, there is difference between pins in schematic and footprint. Go through pins in symbol e.g. pin 1, pin 2, pin 3 and be sure you will find pin 1, pin 2, pin 3 also in footprint

What is the difference between the created Board Outline layer and the Keep Out layer?
@RobertFeranec
@RobertFeranec 5 жыл бұрын
keep out is used in cases when you need to be careful about not placing specific objects into specific areas. For example a good example can be if you have a metal connector (SD card socket) with exposed contacts and you do not want to place any VIAs nor tracks under that socket.Board outline are just edges of the PCB.

means, this pin doesnt exist in you pcb -> means for example footprint was not assigned correctly or for example there are different pin names between symbol and footprint. Check footrpint assignment in that specific component, check pin names of that symbol and compare them with pin names/designators in footprint.

Hello hello hello ...tnx for your nice vid ..I have problem with my altium 17 ..which is: I can not rotate my component in pcb mode with "spacebar" I can just rotate it with "M" button!!! Do you know how to fix it?
@RobertFeranec
@RobertFeranec 5 жыл бұрын
In PCB you need to be holding the component (you need to be in the "move mode" and then you can use spacebar to rotate it). If you just select a component in PCB and try to rotate press spacebar - that will not work. In schematic it is the other way, when moving symbol, it will not work, but when selected, press spacebar and symbol will rotate.

Hi Robert. thanks for this video. I want to ask how can i move a component with tracks. I tried many tips on google and nothing work for me. Only when i go to Edit->Move->Drag Track End the component move with the track but the track is going in any address. Maybe a video explaining this could be very helpful. PD Sorry for my english

Depends on your Altium version - old versions will not support it. I do not use it, but I think you may need to enable System Preferences -> PCB Editor -> Interactive Routing -> Dragging: Check Component re-route and check Move component with relevant routing. Here you can find more info ( they call the video Component Retrace ): www.altium.com/altium-designer/playlists/altium-designer-19-whats-new#playlist-main_video_Tvt2Sv998eCtj5wP2hJ2mC

@@RobertFeranec Ok. Let me sum a bit for myslef. 1, I should better learn both. 2, price is not big concern. 3, For simple fast prototype go altium. 4, For mechanically complex project go altium. 5, high speed, big board, need simulation go cadence. 6, There are reference design in cadence. This is much clearer now. Thanks.

I am proficient in Cadence and am learning Altium. I see benefits in both. I feel like I have more detailed and discrete control in Cadence, so that is my preference. Altium feels more approachable, though.

I just recently started with Altium after having been used to Eagle. Honestly, I expected more comfort for the money. Especially difficult is editing connections on the schematic diagram. When you start moving groups of components, the dangling connections always tend to create short circuits or go where they shouldn't. Also it's impossible to delete line segments, only the whole connection.

Pin numbers and nets: you need to zoom in very closely or double check your settings (clock on Panels button, then View Configuration -> View Options -> Additional Options and enable Pad Nets, Pad Numbers). PS: I am not sure what you mean by "vias didn't change it's shape" - did you select it before updating the parameters of VIA?

Why do I always see 'random' numbers used for the Mechanical Layers? They are never in perfect sequence like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. They are random like M2, M29, M16, etc?

these numbers are not important anymore as you can select the purpose of the layer and then the layers are correctly used in the project based on the purpose not base on the numbers.

Awesome video. Hey, Robert. I would have a suggestion for a video tutorial that you could do it on Fedevel. I would honestly buy this course. Actually I bought all your Altium courses, which are great. How about you would do a board on PCI express that would connect to a PC motherboard on one of the PCI slots, and what involves to do so that Windows would recognize this board? The board doesn't have to be fancy. It could be imx6 or just a simple audio board or something.

Something similar is on our TODO list for Advanced FPGA course. However, I am not sure when or if it will be done. It depends on how many people will sign up for the FPGA Essentials course.
