Robert, an issue came up when designing my board now. As you taught us I am using M29 for the assembly drawing and I add the designator variable there. When I add all the components on the PCB they appear green due to a 'Component clearance constrains'. However, I am sure they are not within the clearance constrains specified in the design rules. Later I figured out that this error is probably due to the varibale on M29, since the length of the variable name seems to make the component extremely large, even thought the actual designator is very small. I think this is what is causing the clearance constrain error message. The thing is, when running a DRC everything is fine, but as soon as I click in the PCB editor the part turn green again. It is mainly annoying. Is there anything I can do to prevent that, without turning off this specific design rule for the whole board?

PS: I am not using any 3D models, since all my components are basically a square box above the footprint

Thank you Fast Electronic. No special reason for M29 - it was one of the last layers, so I picked it up a long time ago and then I kept using it. New AD19 is changing the approach - making it better - you will specify for what the layer is used, rather then using numbers.

hello everyone, i have 1 question: when should we set reference pin 1 and when should we set reference center for components in pcblib or it doesn't matter?
@RobertFeranec3 жыл бұрын
The reference point is usually used by Pick and Place machine - so that is the point where machine will pick up the component during assembly, means, that for smt components you would like to have it in center of gravity (usually the middle of component). For through hole I usually place it to pin 1, so it is easy to mark its place in drawings.
